HYLNDS by D.S. & Durga is a line that seeks to recall the myth-infused lands of Northern Europe. Tracing legends from antiquity, the Iron and Viking Age, HYLNDS fragrances are made with an in-depth research into historical documents, aromatic analysis of real places, and the artistic creation of the Celtic, Norse, Manx and Anglo peoples. Through very real materials - rare plant extracts, precious balsams, and other choice ingredients - they are able to access haunting memories of a faded era.
Isle Ryder is a call to the fabled isles of the archaic Norse and Celtic myths. Resinous Norway spruce and fir cones join with narcotic jasmine, island wildflowers, honeyed mead and bulrush straw. A poem included in the packaging reads:
To the Blessed Isles,
past the Manx seaman’s myst
and thundering valour,
past Balor’s blackened bulrush,
the Summer Raider in ashwood shyp,
his northern woods, saps, cones,
honeyed mead, wax,
golden gorse, meadowsweet,
to inner loch, of inner isle,
always ryding west
The listing of notes for the fragrance reads:
Isle Ryder is an eau de parfum, edp.
