Description

A desert is any large, extremely dry area of land with sparse vegetation. It is one of Earth's major types of ecosystems, supporting a community of distinctive plants and animals adapted to the harsh environment. One of the biggest variables in desert scents is the type of vegetation and, of course, the season. In the Spring, some deserts are alive with fragrance wildflowers. Even during very dry periods, the smell of creosote is strong in places where it grows. The daisy family is the most diverse plant family in deserts overall along with perennial grasses and trees and shrubs are found in some desert environments. A few large, common, conspicuous plants provide deserts with much of their regional character. In North America, the Sonoran Desert of northwestern Mexico and the adjacent areas of California and Arizona are dotted with large cacti, especially the tall saguaro, while to the north in the cooler Mojave Desert the characteristic Joshua Tree is found. The Creosote Bush is common in both areas. The spiny, spinifex grasses typify Australian deserts, while fleshy, cactus-like species of Euphorbia are located in parts of southern and eastern Africa.

Desert smells can range from dry and arid to moist and floral. In the Sonoran Desert when it rains, especially during the monsoons in the summer, there is the most gorgeous scent created by the Creosote Bush (Chaparral) that is absolutely intoxicating.

You will receive a 1/2ml sample (1ml sample vial filled half full) of each of the fragrances in this sampler.

  1. Red River Apothecary Perfume Mesas Oil - Parched grass, dry salt accord, green mandarin, myrrh and hot winds.
  2. Hexennacht Desert Rain Perfume Oil - Smell the scent of desert rain with notes of sweetgrass, cactus flower, summer rain, ozonic accord, black sage, cedar, sandalwood and pink pepper.
  3. Calyx Dusty Sage Perfume Oil - A dry, dusty, herbaceous, rugged fragrance that celebrates the raw beauty of the desert and the allure of the American West's daring spirit. At the heart of this fragrance, sage exudes an earthy, herbaceous aroma that suggests rugged landscapes and captures the essence of the wild, aromatic vegetation that thrives under the desert sun. Evoking images of rustic desert campsites, cedar's warm and woody notes transport you to nights spent beneath a star-studded sky, surrounded by the comforting scent of a crackling campfire. It features notes of sage, cedar, smoke, cade, vetiver, dusty earth and leather.
  4. Dawn Spencer Hurwitz (DSH) Sagebrush & Cactus Voile de Parfum - A refreshing unisex earthy/green/woody fragrance that balances the cleansing quality of white sage with the succulent green tones of cactus. Among the many fragrant plants and bushes found in this vast landscape are the characteristic white sagebrush that cover the rocky hills of the desert, but the big and small cacti that bloom, and hold the water of this arid land. Sagebrush & Cactus is the representation of the cool, watery elements found in the desert as well as that bracing, woody undertone of the space. It’s beautiful on its own, but when paired with Redstone Mesa the entire desert landscape comes to life. With top notes of abstract green note, aloe accord, cactus accord and petrichor/rain accord; middle notes of coumarin, green wood accord, mountain sage and white sagebrush; and base notes of amber, ambergris, Brazilian vetiver, frankincense CO2 absolute, sandalwood, Virginia cedar, Mexican cedarwood and musk.
  5. Of The Earth Perfumes Mojave Perfume Oil - A subtle floral with notes of cactus rose, greens, cyclamen, dried white sage and palo santo.
  6. Strange Charm Design Chaparral Perfume Oil - Dense thickets of sweetgrass and sage, blooming cactus flower, and the warm, peppery scent of desert breezes carrying sweet copal, sandalwood and incense smoke.
