Butter, eggs, more butter; what could make for a better scent??? Based on the traditional shortbread biscuit (cookie) which is served with tea and traditionally eaten at Christmas and New Year. Originating from Scotland and traditionally made with oatmeal, it is now made with wheat flour. Shortbread is usually baked in a large round and served cut from the center into triangles; it is a relic of the ancient New Year cakes that were symbols of the sun. The first shortbread recipes began appearing as far back as Elizabethan times. Scottish Shortbread is a cologne.
DEMETER SCOTTISH SHORTBREAD REVIEWS
Fragrantica: This smells so dang yummy! It smells exactly like a fresh baked sugar cookie, when pulled straight from the oven. That wasn't quite what I had expected, but Scottish Shortbread has ended up as a very high like. It's actually quite sweet, but in the same sense that a pinch of granulated white sugar is sweet. It's not cakey, candied, cupcake-y or frosting-like. As with many Demeter's, it's not very long lasting and projection is light. Can easily be worn all year round, but definitely most comforting in cooler weather. And funny story, when my four year old smelled it the first time I wore it, he said I smelled like a delicious biscuit. Lol!
Fragrantica: This fragrance reminds me of those little “butter” cookies you get in a large tin around the holidays. Not quite a shortbread biscuit, not quite as sugar cookie to me. It’s a warm vanilla baked fragrance with a bit of something that keeps it from getting syrupy. This never fails to make me smile. I don’t know if Demeter fragrances are still labeled as “pick me up” sprays but, they really are that. A quick burst of fragrance to give you a mood and a smile. I don’t know that these are meant to last very long. But, I do like this scent. It lasts about 2 to 3 hours on me. Then leaves nothing but a faint scent on the skin that does not last. The throw/silage is fair to moderate. Edit to add: butter cookies = Brysselkex/Sablés/danish biscuits.
Demeter: This is nice. It smells very much like a yummy sweet biscuit, or bakery, but not quite as buttery as real shortbread. I even went to the cupboard to sniff some Walkers shortbread, just to compare. Unfortunately, it takes about an hour for Demeter's Scottish Shortbread to smell more natural, and closer to the real thing. But by then it has faded and is not strong enough... It is a very pleasant, sweet, warm fragrance though.
