Dior Poison was launched in 1985, created by Edouard Flechier. Whether you love it or hate it, Dior Poison is a legend and changed a lot about big orientals - big white ffloral oriental. It won a FiFi award in 1987. The staid, New Look House of Dior officially left refined and jumped into the modern perfumery of the 1980s - the age of goth and vamps.
features notes of sweet orange, Calabrian bergamot, Sicilian mandarin, orange flower, jasmine sambac, gardenia, sandalwood, white amber and musk. It is an eau de toilette, edt.
Reviews of Dior Poison
From Bois de Jasmin - "Poison was the exact opposite, a behemoth white floral that didn’t smell anything like a flower but more like a synthetic floral orgy, something oh-so-right for the bigness of the Eighties.... The natural menthol note that occurs in tuberose marked Poison with a toothpaste-like, minty quality. Although the berried top notes responsible for the fruit-candy accord are immediately noticeable, it is this minty, green tuberose that sails forth, buttressed by orange blossom and for all I know a bottle of grape Nehi soda (tuberose+heliotrope+black currant). It’s a courageous fragrance actually, in that it overtakes and beats down its wearer, a risky fragrance that in its original form required personal boldness and sophistication to pull off. "
From Makeup Alley - "It can wear you and it has been known to announce my presence before I've even entered a room, or after. It's that powerful. It has nuclear sillage and longevity, and to me, is the reigning queen of tuberose and the sole goddess of the olfactory world. Embodying the mystique of the evil witch from Snow White, it is the best perfume ever made. Purple velvet drapes. Seduction. Nothing comes close to it. Warm spices intertwined with a cloud of stewed plums, tuberose, laced with dark wild berries, lavished in ambery honey. The drydown is very animalic and carnal to me."
From Scentertainer - "Everything about Poison perfume is hypnotizing and addictive. From the very scent, selected from 800 others, through a perfume bottle that suggests that it is a forbidden fruit to Isabelle Adjani, a French actress of unreal beauty who was chosen to be the face of the entire campaign. To this date, Poison is one of the most beautiful tuberoses that has ever appeared in the perfume world, and as it is the case with all tuberoses, indifference is impossible. Either you love it or hate it."
