Description

Diptyque Eau Nabati launched in 2023. It is part of Diptyque's two fragrance Middle East Collection attached to the sensorial experiences of Arabian culture. Eau Nabati is reminiscent of a lush summer garden glimpsed in dreams. Cool notes of green bergamot are boosted by the zest of amber and flickers of immortelle flowers that bring decadent spiciness to the overall perfume. Deep within the dunes, an oasis outside of time. Eau Nabati is an imaginary stroll through a garden in paradise. The warm, spicy wind reveals lively notes of citrus fruits. In a composition rich in contrasts, fresh bergamot and petitgrain mingle with the amber warmth of immortelle flowers and balm of Peru. Originally released exclusively in the Gulf countries and at Harrods in London, Eau Nabati captures the essence of nature and the Mediterranean coast. Inspired by the scent of a lush garden filled with aromatic plants, trees and flowers, it opens with a burst of citrusy bergamot and the fresh, green scent of petitgrain, balanced by the rich aroma of amber and the sweet scent of balsam. As the fragrance develops on the skin, it becomes more complex and multifaceted, revealing new layers of scent that are both captivating and intriguing. Eau Nabati is an eau de parfum, edp.

From their website: In the vast desert emerges a miniature seemingly painted amid the dunes – an oasis untouched by time. As a visitor approaches, doors open onto a paradise garden, where an imaginary stroll begins. Behind high stone walls, exuberant blooms follow pools of clear water set out along symmetrical paths. In the shade of palms and cedars, the warm, spicy wind disperses vivid citrusy notes. These astonishing contrasts are at the heart of Eau Nabati. The sparkling freshness of bergamot and the green notes of petitgrain are surrounded by the enveloping amber warmth of immortelle and Balsam of Peru. A happy medley of contrasts. Nabati calls to mind botanical, one of the definitions of this word in classical Arabic. The name evokes luxuriant vegetation, inseparable from the art of the paradise garden. The art of perpetual enchantment.

Olfactory Notes: The vibrant notes of citrus at the heart of the composition are surrounded by enveloping amber accords. A dream encounter.

DIPTYQUE EAU NABATI REVIEWS

Fragrantica: Reminds me of something my grandma would wear, in the best way possible. Polite musky resin, what I imagine the 1970s smelled like.

Fragrantica: To me and on me, the imortelle and balsam smell like fresh tobacco. Add some citrus on top and a powdery vanilla amber below. It’s lovely. It reminds me of old school Diptyque.

Fragrantica: This fragrance smells completely different from what I hoped for. As per the description above, I expected it to be fresher and more herbal; but, in reality, the sweet, resinous, balsamic notes dominate (amber, Peru balsam, cinnamon and other spices). I see that other Fragrantica users were reminded of Dior Dune, however, Dune is actually fresher than Eau Nabati, thanks to its sharp and prominent citruses and aldehydes in the opening. With Eau Nabati, I was actually reminded of a fragrance such as Tauer L'air du Desert Marocain, or even Zoologist Camel, although Eau Nabati is somewhat sweeter and milder. Test before you buy, because it obviously very much depends on our skin chemistry.

Fragrantica: Very nice fragrance release from Diptyque. Has a little bit of a throwback feel, office safe. Modern and worth a purchase.

Parfumo: Ancient Babylonian shaving oil with a bouquet of fresh immortelle nearby. Eau Nabati opens with some bergamot and herbaceous pettigrain, giving a spicy fougere-like vibe, then settles into a *superb* green, honey-sweet immortelle. The opening and mid last 4+ hours with noticeable sillage, then dry down into a beautiful amber-woody scent which leans slightly vanilla on my skin by the 8-9hr mark. Even without marketing language about desert gardens, the effect is one of mixing typically "green" notes (bergamot, immortelle) and "blue" notes (palm tree, Peru balsam) to create a deep teal composition... refreshing yet rich, not unlike a blooming oasis in hot desert air. You like Oriental fragrances, but don't want to stray too far into heavy resinous accords or gas the people around you. You want something you can feel good about wearing to work in the morning and still be subtly there at happy hour in the evening. You're likely a guy, but this is absolutely unisex - especially if you love immortelle.
