Description

Diptyque Volutes EDP was launched in 2012, created by Fabrice Pellegrin.   Notes of Tobacco, Honey, Iris Flower, Dried Fruits, Hay, Immortelle, Saffron, Pink Pepper, Black Pepper, Benzoin, Opoponax, Myrhh and Styrax.  This is the EDP, eau de parfum.

From the brand - "1930, an ocean liner bound for Saigon. On the upper deck, women in evening gowns linger, cigarette holders in hand, the orchestra playing in the lounge. From his childhood memories, Yves Coueslant preserved sounds and fragrances: mild tobacco rising in wisps, mingling with the powdery scent of make-up."

Reviews of Diptyque Volutes EDP

Fragrantica  - "It's in the catagory of Hermes Ambre Nargile, but not as gourmand or sweet, or it is like Lutens Chergui, but not as spicy. Volutes is in-between those two...
This is the most "wearable" tobacco fragrance I have. Tom Ford To acco Vanilla is a great smell, but too opulent to wear casually...... Now for the tobacco note, as many of us love tobacco.
It is a great authentic tobacco note, better than in Chergui or Ambre Narguile. It's not very strong. I notice it most in the open, then later it's in an accord with other stronger notes, but still plays a part throughout the life of the fragrance."

Fragrantica - "olutes is my favorite tobacco, honey, iris combination. It has all the depth of tobacco and honey while being wispy, airy and powdery from the iris. The hay note makes it dry and interesting. It's still unique among all the fragrances that have come out since. It is like hugging a pillow. And a really great concept."

Fragrantica - "The drydown of Volutes gives me fragrant flashbacks from my music school years. That's how I remember my violin case to smell when I used a large piece of real amber to rosin the bow - soft, dusty and resinous."

Fragrantica - "Volutes takes me immediately to Eau Duelle rather than Chergui for comparison, this is Duelle's tobacco smoking cousin (in fact I had to look up Pellegrin's other creations right away as I thought of Eau Duelle upon first sniff).
Volutes is a fruity, gently honeyed hay thanks to a delicately calibrated dose of immortelle, that note which can so quickly consume all others. It's a gorgeous blend indeed."
