Description

Autumn 26 is an aromatic fougere fragrance created by Elodie Durande and launched in 2026. Ffern has essentially bottled a moonlit moor. It is the perfumer’s interpretation of a classic fougère fragrance. With the smudged, spacious quality of twilight, this lunar fragrance shimmers with lavender, iris and violet leaf. Warmer notes of tonka and immortelle capture the honeyed scent of heather. Autumn 26 is composed of 19 natural ingredients and features top notes of lavender, Calabrian bergamot, coriander and fennel; middle notes of immortelle, ho wood, broom, jasmine, cypriol (nagarmotha) oil, May rose and rose geranium; and base notes of orris root, hay, oakmoss, Siam benzoin, violet leaf, Virginia cedar and tonka bean. It is an eau de parfum, edp.

FFERN AUTUMN 26 REVIEWS

Fragrantica: "Having grown up around a 20 minute drive from the Ffern HQ in Somerset, these fragrances have been on my radar for a while. Having wanted to try them for a while, but never really justifying the purchase based on the notes of the previous seasons, this particular perfume caught my eye, I can ignore the Violet, Iris and Lavender, the not that piqued my interest, and got me to buy, was the Hay. And now having received my bottle and using it for around a week now, it may be one of my favourites - whilst the marketing pushes this as a fragrance steeped in the mist of a moonlit plain, this so distinctly takes me back to a time in my life as a child, where the freshly cut grass in the fields around my home were baled up and left to dry out, me and my friends would climb these meters tall pyramids of hay bales, and having been baking in the sun for weeks, that smell was exactly this perfume; warm hay bales packed up next to wildflowers growing in a field that's winding down from the summer and preparing for autumn. The flowers used in this maceration are absolutely the top notes, but to me, they only serve to accentuate a nostalgic memory trapped inside this bottle, to an almost emotional extent. Just this week I've told many people that story of what this reminds me of, and that's what I love about perfume as an art form. 10/10"

Fragrantica: "I absolutely love Ffern Autumn 26. The lavender and honeyed immortelle blend beautifully with the soft, powdery orris and earthy, mossy notes. Such a gorgeous autumn scent, and the staying power is incredible! I sprayed it on my pyjamas before bed, and my dog cuddled into my neck overnight. The next morning, my mum could still smell the perfume on my dog, that’s how well it lasts! I really hope they keep this as a staple perfume as it’s divine!"

Fragrantica: "Have absolutely fallen in love with this scent after initial skepticism. It's unique compared to a lot of recent Ffern scents and so wonderful. I've been wearing it to bed because i find it soothing but it's also worked its way into daytime use as well. The lavender and hay combine beautifully for a scent that isn't stereotypically fall but still evokes the season. One of my fave Ffern fragrances in the two years I've been getting them."

Fragrantica: "I absolutely adore this one, and it's my favorite Ffern out of all the ones I've tried. I got the pocket size and hope to snag a full-size bottle when they are made available. This is just the most comforting herbal scent, there's no other way to describe it. Every time I smell it, I imagine I'm laying down in an old-fashioned bed stuffed with hay, with freshly picked lavender placed around the room. It's soft and fresh and inviting. I just want to cuddle myself."

Fragrantica: "Herbal, natural, fresh, and lightly spiced. It smells like wandering through the woods or across a fallow field in fall. Damp to dry vegetation, a cool rush of air, and a landscape browned by the beginnings of decay. My first Ffern fragrance. I’ve always held the turning of the seasons very close to my heart, so I’m quite excited about this subscription."

Fragrantica: "This is something that is just so special to me, it gives me a balanced feeling of nostalgia and quiet excitement for the future. I order Ffern fragrances with my boyfriend so it makes it even more sentimental. I’ve been wearing this to bed a LOT ever since this arrived at our doorstep, I’m still so happy with it. Very classic composition to me with vintage character that I am always weak to. Also the best lavender I have ever smelled in perfume thus far ! But at the end of the day, my admiration for Autumn 26 isn’t something I can put into proper words."

Fragrantica: "This was my first Ffern perfume and a very pleasant surprise. It’s a fresh citrusy hay which becomes herbal and calm - very much like a fall meadow. My husband says it smells like herbal tea, which it does in a way. I didn’t know what to expect due to ffern mixed reviews but the experience of getting a little trinket and a tea in line with the theme and story of the perfume is a divine little thing. Brought me joy, a nice casual scent for during the day. Never blind bought before but it seemed an agreeable set of notes. It is."

Fragrantica: "This one really surprised me. The opening is quite challenging: dry hay and chamomile, almost medicinal/herbal, and for the first few minutes I genuinely thought I wasn’t going to like it. But give it time. After about 5–15 minutes it starts to transform. The harsh herbal quality softens, something delicate and almost wildflower-like appears, and then it becomes beautifully creamy, fresh and velvety. Later it turns more powdery and slightly soapy, but in a very soft, feminine way. At that stage I find it almost intoxicating. What I love most is the development. It doesn’t smell the same from beginning to end; it takes you somewhere. The contrast between that strange, rustic opening and the beautiful soft drydown is part of its charm. Longevity on my skin isn’t spectacular (around 3–4 hours), but on fabric it lasts much longer. On Ffern’s clay fragrance stone I could still smell it more than 3 days later. Definitely not a conventional crowd-pleaser, and I can understand why the opening might put some people off. But I’m glad I didn’t judge it by the first ten minutes. It’s unusual, soothing and genuinely beautiful."

Fragrantica: "This is a winner! Absolutely gorgeous. Fresh, natural but also warm and cosy. The lavendar is present but not overpowering. The bergamot keeps it bright. I sense iris in the dry down along with violet which evokes an almost almost nostalgic feeling. The freshness of the opening notes linger - creating an enveloping sensation - this combined with the warmer notes in the base (is it the tonka?) and Ffern's unique base dna - have made something truly special and dare I say it... even slightly sexy on skin. It gets better and better throughout wear. Longevity and sillage is actually really good with this one."

Fragrantica: "I like it. It smells like being outside, sitting in a field of dried grass in September. The hay and grass notes plus the lavender are the lasting standouts, fennel in the opening for only minute or two. I can see the fougere they were aiming for. Pleasant and autumn evocative. I'll give the thumbs up on this one to Elodie again. Summer 26 was also very nice. I'm new to the ledger. Enjoying the experience so far."
