Francesca Bianchi is a Tuscan-born, Amsterdam-based perfumer whose love of perfume began in childhood; she went on to study History of Art, focusing on twentieth-century art, and spent years working in art book publishing while living in Florence, Berlin, Luxembourg and Amsterdam. Her journey into perfumery started after reading a book on natural perfumery, and from there she taught herself, studying and experimenting independently, with encouragement along the way from perfumer Lorenzo Villoresi. She launched her namesake line in Amsterdam in 2016 with three high-concentration perfumes, Angel's Dust, Sex and the Sea and The Dark Side, followed by creations such as Under My Skin (2017) and Lost in Heaven. Her perfumes are often described as sensual and provocative, rich, powdery and unapologetically animalic with what Fragrantica called "a touch of vintage inspiration", and she blends natural materials and synthetic molecules with equal respect, formulating every fragrance herself before it is produced in Grasse and bottled in Milan. In her own words: "My greatest inspiration is the experience of being human."
