Wonderful, classic fragrance
A bright opening, warm and envelopping with all the interesting developments of a true chypre perfume. I can not help sniffing my wrists regularly when I have this on and recommend it to all chypre lovers.
Frederic Malle Le Parfum de Therese an aldehydic floral launched in 2000, created by the legendary perfumer, Edmond Roudnitska (Rochas Femme, Dior Diorella, Dior Diorissimo and Dior Eau Sauvage). is a fruity chypre scent. It was a fragrance Edmond Roudnitska originally created in the 1960s for his wife, Therese. Until Frederic Malle was founded, it had been worn only by Therese as her personal perfume until the death of Edmond. She then agreed to allow it to be released to the public. Notes of Mandarine, melon, jasmine, pepper, violet-rose, plum, nutmeg, cedar, vetiver and leather
From Bois de Jasmin - "While jasmine intensifies, violet and rose swirl out of the spicy green plum accords in the middle notes. The entire composition rests on a dry leathery base touched by earthy notes of vetiver. A fragrance both seductive and elegant, it unfolds gently on the skin, never failing to surprise me. I find something new in it (Frederic Malle Le Parfum de Therese)every time I wear it."
From Now Smell This - "To my mind, it is the ultimate expression of his efforts to avoid complicated, muddled perfumes. Parfum de Thérèse is a simply stunning perfume, and would certainly make my list of desert island fragrances."
From Olfactoria's Travels - "Le Parfum de Thérèse is one of those complete perfumes to my nose. Nothing standing out, not single note to discern, no huge progression, but a smooth, round experience that seems to defy explanation from start to finish. But that does not keep me from trying to make sense of it anyway."
From Perfume Posse - (Did NOT like - just for something different) "It makes me hate it even more. There, I’ve gone all in, and the entire Perfume World disagrees with me. I know this, I clickety-clicked the reviews, hoping to find just one that even disliked it a teeny bit or didn’t go all swoony over it. I read the praise, sniffed it again and wonder how nutmeg, a smell I love, can be so foul covered in rotting melon. Didn’t March hate it? Did the Internets eat her review because it is just so wrong to not like it? Is there no one out there that agrees with me?"
