Too animalic for my taste
I'm glad I tried this, but it was just too animalic for me. All I got was fecal notes and a sour cassis smell. Unfortunate because it would be nice to smell the great things that others describe.
Frederic Malle Une Fleur de Cassie was created by Dominque Ropion and launched in 2000. There is nothing simple about this fragrance, and it tends to evoke a strong response when you smell it. It opens as very bitter and a little nutty, and just this weird funky smell. But be patient! You may have to acquire a taste for Une Fleur de Cassie, but it is well worth it if you do. Notes of bergamot orange, rose, violet, cassie absolute, mimosa absolute, jasmine absolute, clove, cumin, apricot, musk, cedar and sandalwood.
From Bois de Jasmin - "Yet, in a way, taking apart this elegantly harmonious composition note by note does not do it justice. Nor is it particularly necessary once you lose yourself in the beauty that it conjures."
From Perfume Posse - "Dominique Ropion created a gorgeous, interesting, captivating scent. The drydown is pure lushness with zero bland. Floral, leather, refined, always changing. Will I endure that horrific open to get to that sweet nectar? Oh, yes! I keep thinking of ways to talk about Cassie, and I can’t think of any other way to describe her than she is a nasty little bitch with claws when you first encounter her, but just wait, she becomes an experience."
From Perfume Smellin' things - "The beauty of Une Fleur de Cassie is carnal and haunting and more than a little quirky. It seems to me that it might not be one of the most easily approachable and likeable perfumes in Malle's collection (the quick glance at the reviews on Makeupalley will reveal almost a complete lack of in-between opinions, it is either love or utter detestation), but it is certainly one of the most unique. Since I happen to be one of the lucky people whom the capricious Une Fleur favors with its warm affection, it is most definitely full bottle worthy for me."
From Perfume Nerd - "Something in it smells dirty, animalic and almost pale greyish. The flowers smell seem blanded, with elements of cucumber, water and something oily. But there is also a sweetness, a pale golden feeling and deep down inside, a happy, unbeatable spirit. Une fleur de Cassie has charm, but of the silent, whispering sort. A scent that don´t demand a lot of room, but still show to be much stronger then I first thought."

This might be my favorite perfume ever. I do love Dominique Ropion's nose (Carnal Flower, also by FM) and this frag is a testament to it. Not the scent for a reserved young lady! The opening (my favorite part) is big and bold and voluptuous and sexy. Heady jasmine, delightful cassie flower, and a touch of animalic cumin cast a very narcotic spell. Great sillage, good staying power, lush effect. I've received great compliments when I wear Une Fleur. (Warning: some women might hate you for it!)
