For many, the word “beach” elicits a serene location where stress is gently lapped away by gentle waves. But experiencing the legendary California surf spot Ghost Trees calls to mind something altogether different. The first thing you’re likely to notice about this place are the gnarled cypress trees standing watch over the misty coastline. Their gray skeletal silhouettes are weathered from an endless assault of sea spray and stiff winds. These otherworldly trees, some living and some dead, stand scattered amongst the rocks and boulders that line the shore. The jagged stones are just a small portion of the raw and rugged terrain that continues on into the depths of the sea. Below the surface of the water, a shallow reef quickly gives way to a deep submarine canyon, and the interplay between these formations is what gives rise to the legendary waves that break near the shore. When conditions are just right, the water moves with unfathomable force and speed. Swells that have traveled from thousands of miles transform into massive mountains of water towering 60 feet or more before violently colliding with the rocks at the shore. The impact sends plumes of water high into the air, and each crashing wave creates as much a physical sensation as it does a sound – a deep, thunderous boom that resonates in your chest. For a time, the most skillful and daring surfers from around the world would travel to the area in hopes of riding the giant waves, and legends were born from their successes and failures alike. Local authorities closed the area to surfers several years ago, and these days it's quite rare to see a board in the water. Yet the massive waves continue just as they had before – completely indifferent to humanity. This haunting landmark encapsulates the terrifying power and extraordinary beauty of the ocean. Our fragrance seeks to pay homage to the remarkable place known as Ghost Trees. It is a woody floral musk with top notes of juniper, pink peppercorn and ocean ozonics; middle notes of white cypress, Thalassagaia florals and salted sea; and base notes of ghost wood, elemi and driftwood. Ghost Trees is an extrait de parfum.
FULTON & ROARK GHOST TREES REVIEWS
Fragrantica: "Grassy vetiver and sandalwood, sharp juniper, lots of salty pink pepper. This one is very similar to MMM When the Rain Stops."
Fragrantica: "I wanted to dislike this because I felt that it was overpriced (i still think it is) but honestly it’s quite lovely, if not rather familiar. At first I was a bit anosmic to it and I just got a general woody musky light cologne scent, a touch aquatic maybe. But the dry down — kind of salty ambery blonde wood aquatic slightly sweet — is really quite nice, even if it’s familiar. A bit reminiscent of the dry of 11 11 but less powdery maybe and more aquatic. I will eventually buy this although the price is steep for the product. It doesn’t smell cheap by any means but it also doesn’t smell like a high end perfume house. It should be priced about 1/2 the price like a Lake & Skye fragrance I’d say."
Fulton & Roark: "Love the oceanic smell combined with the driftwood and peppercorn. I wore this on a trip to Greece and it reminds me of my vacation, the blue waters, and memories made. It is not just a fragrance, it’s an experience."
Fulton & Roark: "The fragrance smells so different on me, but in the best way. Clean, haunting ocean smell! If it held up against the humidity and heat of the summer (and lasted even just an hour or 2 longer) I would give this a 6 star review if I could!"
Fulton & Roark: "Haven't fallen in love with a fragrance like this in a long time! This was my favorite from the discovery set by a landslide. It’s clean, light, but something dark and spooky about it too. Love every part of this!"
