Description

Givenchy L'Interdit is an amber floral fragrance that was launched in 2018 (the original was much older, but this is the current L'interdit). Dominique Ropion, Anne Flipo, and Fanny Bal are the noses behind this scent. L'Interdit has notes of pear, bergamot, tuberose, orange blossom, jasmine, vanilla, patchouli, ambroxan and vetiver. It is an EDT, eau de toilette.

From the brand - "Among the first perfume creations of the house of Givenchy stands the legendary scent of L'Interdit from 1957, dedicated to actress Audrey Hepburn as the most significant muse of this fashion designer.  In 2018, its new, modern version called L'Interdit Givenchy comes out, developed by perfumers Dominique Ropion, Anne Flipo and Fanny Bal as a floral-woody composition. The perfume is built on the basis of contrast between a bouquet of white flowers (including jasmine, tuberose and orange blossom) and intense woody and earthy notes of patchouli and vetiver. The concept behind the creation is the "thrill of the forbidden" and the challenge of crossing the line."

Reviews of Givenchy L'Interdit (2018)

Fragrantica - "I love it. It is unapologetically tuberose: the bright, playful and confident kind. I do also detect the fruitiness from the pear at the beginning. Easily gets noticed and gets a ton of compliments. Some people describe it as generic, but it makes me feel so good!"

Fragrantica - "This perfume changed. My. Life. It’s an amazing grape syrupy floral and it’s so unique. That may not sound appealing but I don’t like grape scents and I’m not big on white florals but something about this is amazing. When I smell it I feel like I’m teleported to one of my favorite English classic books either something by “Jane Austen” or “Charlotte Brontë”. This is a beautiful fragrance and I can 100% see how it was designed for the beautiful Audrey Hepburn. It’s a little too cloying for the warmer months but this shines beautiful in the Autumn/Winter."

Fragrantica - "This is my "that b*tch" perfume - perfect wing, feelin'-myself-outfit, gold rings and gold stacked necklaces, handbag on one arm, smoking a cigarette and chewing bubblegum after. Hot, young, and unbothered."

    Gorgeous Classic Scent

I was hoping that the tuberose in this scent would take the orange blossom in a direction I liked. I was a little worried when I read that it tended "purple" since I'm not a big fan of other grapey perfumes like Prada Paradoxe or My Way. However, once I opened my sample, I was in love. Yes, it has a slightly grape smell in the opening, but it mixes with a candy smell like Sweet Tarts. Then, the florals started to leave the forefront to make way for an evergreen and vetiver scent with vanilla and patchouli undertones. It's really a gorgeous, voluptuous scent. While my husband likes it, he says it reminds him of something someone's great aunt would wear. If so, she has good tastes in perfume, and I want to smell everything she owns -- that forbidden great aunt. I have every intention of transforming into a great aunt with this one often.
