GUERLAIN AQUA ALLEGORIA MANDARINE BASILIC REVIEWS
Fragrantica: I received my bottle. It was a blind buy. This scent has a very intense mandarin rind scent. It is the main actor and stays almost like an essential oil for the length of the wear. It is intense and bright. Sweet. Just like peeling mandarines and squeezing the peels to smell the wonderful oils. The basil is there like a small adornment, not as pronounced as in the OG Mandarine Basilic AA. There is a vanilla note mentioned in the notes pyramid. I do not get it at all. On my skin this is a prolonged, soothing citric scent w/o sugar or vanilla. This is not a citrus cake like Shalimar souffle. I always wanted a citrus scent with staying power. This is it. The scent is powerful and uplifting, my husband said I smell great... I am very content.
Fragrantica: Realistic and uplifting mandarin. happy go lucky, makes you want to smile! i personally liked the forte more, the other one smells more like freshly cut grass, something sharp and green accompanying the mandarin. although these fragrances aren't gendered, that one is also more masculine leaning to me, i like that forte is sweeter
Fragrantica: Absolutely fantastic. Gorgeous and fresh. Smells like orange/mandarin gummy bears/candy. Just delicious mandarin. I much prefer it over the non Forte, that one just smells more like lemon laundry detergent to my nose. The Forte is what I expected the non Forte to be. + it lasts longer.
Fragrantica: Love it. Fresh fresh fresh. Sweet, realistic mandarin that makes me think of my childhood, suited to warm climates. When I wear it I feel like I would attract bees. Strictly daytime scent. It stays on me, unlike the original.
Fragrantica: Realistic yet expensive smelling, elegant, sharp, natural, zesty, bitter sweet and very fresh. Would be beautiful on a man. The best fragrance from this line.
Fragrantica: I received three AA Forte samples at the Guerlain counter, and AA Mandarine Basilic Forte is the first for me to try. It opens with an intense, sweet mandarin note that reminds me of a particular cough syrup I was given as a child, or candied mandarin segments used in pavlova. It becomes slightly more floral, segueing to a syrupy orange blossom note - the kind that seems to be on trend, given recent feminine designer releases. As if it needed any more sweetness, honey adds rich, ambery sweetness to the base. There is some soft spice, thanks to the anise. As it develops, a hint of green freshness comes to the fore. I get some cassis, fruity and tart, tempering the candied orange accord nicely. Vanilla emerges as it dries down, adding sweetness to the base. Alongside the orange, it reminds me a little of AA Pamplelune (a groundbreaking and heavenly grapefruit-vanilla accord). Some woodiness creeps in as it fades. Sillage and longevity are moderate. A (very) sweet orange scent, AAMBF is surprisingly layered - the sweetness is simultaneously candied, vanilla, syrupy and honeyed - yet wonderfully cohesive. More Mandarine than Basilic, this is a really enjoyable feminine summer scent with good performance considering its profile. 3.5/5.
Fragrantica: This is AMAZING! I find it, like many Aqua Allegoria’s, to be unisex. The intense “forte” is no joke: It packs a punch! The longevity of this is over 12 hours on me - unheard of for my chemistry. It’s fresh, and clean, and bright - and a total gem. Worth every penny! I don’t get a ton of basil, but there’s a green freshness to it that compliments the mandarin well. Not that you need to, but I think that this is simple enough that you could layer it with something woody and warm.
Fragrantica: This is my happy scent. To me it smells like photorealistic fresh mandarines, a scent that evokes happy childhood memories and always lifts my mood. I even keep a back up as it is so dear to me. I recently smelled the harvest edition which is slightly sweeter and I considering getting that one too. I get a slight fresh note from the basil though only in the background, the dry down is slightly vanillic but not too sweet. If you love mandarines and their smell, you probably like this scent too.
