Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille was created by Jean-Paul Guerlain and launched in 2007 - that is the first bottle, which had a black label with a red seal thing near the top of the bottle under the neck. That isn't the version we have, though it is the perfect version. This has long been a favorite of people who like vanilla perfumes. If you do NOT like vanilla perfumes, you can just keep going. It is similar to Hermessence Ambre Narguile, though I find Ambre Narguile to have less cozy and more fierce amber. It has been compared to Tom Ford Tobacco Vanilla. I mean, yeah, they are a little alike, Spiritueuse Double Vanille is warmer, cozier, plays nicer.
Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille later joined the l'Matiere lineup. The bottle we are decanting from is the new bottle from 2021 pictured here. We aren't detecting any major (if any) differences, but wanted you to know the version we are decanting from.
Notes are pink pepper, bergamot, incense, ylang, cedar, Bulgarian rose, jasmine, benzoin and vanilla. This has long been one of the most popular vanilla fragrances we've had.
Reviews of Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille
From Kafkaesque - "If you like comforting, warm, sweet and boozy scents, I think you should give Spiritueuse Double Vanille a try. It’s not earth-shattering, but it is very cozy and I suspect some may find it wholly addictive."
From Perfume Posse Comprehensive review of Vanilla perfumes - "Not huffing black smoke like Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille, but huffing embers of vanilla. It stays close to the skin and lets gentle vanilla ..."
From Now Smell This - "It starts out thick and rich, with boozy undertones and a swirl of something smoky that reminds me of vanilla-scented pipe tobacco (the notes: vanilla, spices, benzoin, frankincense, cedar, pink pepper, bergamot, Bulgarian rose and ylang ylang)."
From Olfactoria's Travels - "Spiritueuse Double Vanille goes on to be deeper, more vanillary and somehow denser and richer than the Hermessence. It is an extremely yummy scent. I could bury my nose in my wrist whenever I wear it. But still, it never makes me feel like somebodys dessert"
