Hermes Eau D'Hermes is a classic scent from Hermes. A note of fine leather, wrapped in a slightly spicy citrus. Eau D'Hermes is a spicy, woodsy scent and has notes of vanilla, sandalwood, cedar, cumin, birchwood and moss. This is the EDT, eau de toilette. This fragrance is in the Leather fragrance group.
From basenotes - "I deliberately didn’t look up the notes in this before I tried it, as I wanted to see what I could pick out. Straight up I got the leather, the sandalwood, the lavender and the cardamom – sharp and smoky and spicy. Then once it warmed up, I got a beautiful tang from the bergamot. This seems very cool initially, but after an hour or two, the vanilla and sandalwood start to show through, which warms it and gives it a lovely creamy note."

From this vantage point you receive the first window view of resins and spice. Labdanum, moss and spice feel like parts of a chypre puzzle that were deliberately left incomplete. The perfume’s infamous carnal note, the scent of human skin gradually builds as part of the leather theme."

Or spicy and sweaty, with an edge of sweetness. Cinnamon, vivid and quite fresh, with a floral bloom, forms the opening of this one. The leather and sweat come through gradually, but steadily. Never quite loses its sweet character on my skin, but spices tend to linger on me.
I got this sample in the Cedar Closet Sampler. I really can't detect any strong cedar to speak of. The green notes are lovely and floral, but evaporate quickly leaving the cumin/ woody base. Its not a bad scent - it gets a little dry and leathery with blends nicely with the cumin at the end. A bit sweaty, but not in a nasty way. This is how you smell after a strong shower with a lot of floral green soap, and some light jogging, and grinding up some cumin inside a leather hat.
