HOUSE OF MATRIARCH WITCHMUSK REVIEWS
Fragrantica: "The beauty of this fragrance is the drydown. A gorgeous spicy warm sensual musk with hints of wood. Magic."
Fragrantica: "2nd wearing from my sample and its beautiful. Sort of starts with a mild spicy vanilla. Within 20 mins the spices become stronger and then the patchouli comes out. The patchouli is not too strong but its smooth, soft and fresh. Then I get a delicious musk and a slightly woody amber. The amber is mild but the musk is quite strong and smooth, not animalic or clean laundry, but somewhere in the middle. The whole thing is very smooth and warm and delicious."
Fragrantica: "Patchouli, musk, spices. Oh my! LOVE LOVE LOVE."
Fragrantica: "Having just received WitchMusk I'm jotting down a few impressions after two wearings. It makes me thinks about cakes, yet avoids being gourmand and sweet; these are gorgeous enticing tempting cakes for about three hours or so, cakes I'm not permitted to eat and don't want to. I just want to linger in their steam and inhale their aroma over and over, with the vanilla, ambery wood and a secret blend of tantalizing spices I can't recognize. It's minor chord and melancholic too. After a time the most astounding musk, to me at least, rises and proofs and then emanates a bewitching and robust smell retaining that cake-like quality, musk that's non-stinky-animalic, and not in any way laundry begging please-love-me cos we're clean. Musk slightly furry, like the pelt of a beloved self-sufficient pet, magically warm, rich and refined, never enveloping and stuffy. WitchMusk rewards a day-long wear for sure as the musk soars, so smoothly and spicily. I've made a friend for life."
Fragrantica: "At last I got the chance to try this house as I was quite curious since long ago because of their dark, & gothic looks and names. "Whichmusk" is quite sweet spicy blend than musky. It's a dark gothic sweet blend with spices, big chunks of vanilla, some patchouli, sweet amber, and amber wood. It's nothing I haven't sniffed before, and it's cute. With this name, I thought I'd get something like witchcraft with more smoke, more iris, and more woods and forest essence than sweet but it turned to have that gothic theme that perfumers tend to connect it to sweet spice and smoke. Nice."
Fragrantica: "I'm a girl - I like this. Its very spicy and sweet. Not too in your face at all. Lasted about 4 hours then just a skin scent. I did want to keep sniffing my wrists the whole time. A comforting, cozy scent. I don't think the patchouli is too strong. More of a woody vanilla."
Fragrantica: "Very gourmand, without being too sweet or heady (even if strong). To tell the truth, I'm not sure I've ever smelled anything like this in "natural" perfumery (I didn't do much research on the brand, but it jumps out immediately). The spices are very nice, taking away that what could have been sickening from the vanilla. The patchouli is very light, and the freshly cut wood aspect balances very well with this whole mix on the dry down. It becomes extremely soft and creamy. After a few hours, I really have a chai tea aspect (a little too infused), with a little bitterness background, accompanied by a cloud of milk. Very pleasant."
