Description

Iris de Gris is a floral green fragrance for women and men that launched in 2022. The nose behind this fragrance is Quentin Bisch. It will join the Le Potager (vegetable garden) collection and features notes of green peas, bergamot and iris. It is a hymn to green in all its forms. "How many times, while shelling fresh peas, have I dreamt of this new green fragrance?" asks perfumer Quentin Bisch. A dream shaped around galbanum whose scent evokes that of the pea.

A green accord, raised by the freshness of mint, spiked with a zest of blood orange. The iris dresses this botanic melody with a veil of elegance, while the ambroxan invites its refined imprint on the skin. Iris de Gris is an eau de parfum, edp.

L'ARTISAN IRIS DE GRIS REVIEWS

cafleurebon: With Iris de Gris, I was curious to discover how it paired with green pea. Looking at its composition, I suspected that it would not evoke the world of cosmetics, powdery and lipstick-style with which Iris is often associated. To my nose, it is a floral and herbal interpretation of Iris (à la Serge Lutens Iris Silver Mist), with a VIP vegetable note. My first impression, on blotter, was rather a disappointment: acrid, dry and very papery. But on skin, it was the opposite: an exquisite revelation. Quentin Bisch’s creation is a green, earthy and intense iris. The opening is raw, and feels like the flower was picked from nature, with the green pea accord adding a crunchy and fresh aspect intensified by a spicy but subtly dosed mint, with a tangy facet brought by blood orange. As the minutes go by, Iris de Gris becomes even greener and grassier thanks to the galbanum which gives it also an ultra-chic character. Ambroxan adds roundness that allows the perfume to cling to the skin. It’s a true skin fragrance, which subtly mingles floral, aromatic and herbal ingredients together. A “niche” iris of stunning beauty.

Fragrantica: Such an interesting scent! Fresh and green, it becomes more earthy as it develops. Beautiful rooty iris, not powdery. To my nose Pea Accord is a softer and sweeter version of tomato leaf/vine, if you like tomato leaf but find it a bit too sharp, definitely give Iris de Gris a try!

Fragrantica: Straight up turmeric root smell - green earthy fresh...and a little bit of violet leaf. The iris is probably presented as a little dustiness in the middle then we got the sweetness from the pea...Great thing, so refreshing. Brings spring feeling.

Fragrantica: OK, it seems like vegetables are the new trend in perfumes. And I like it! I already loved 'Kyoto' by Diptyque with that wonderful, earthy-fresh beetroot note, and 'Iris de Gris' here could be a follow up. When I spray this on I immediately get juicy, green peas, mixed with an earthy, dry orris root. Bergamot freshens the earthy notes up. It might sound weird but to my surprise this one is very pleasant. Like an earthy, citrusy, vegged orris root that gives a surprisingly elegant, fresh yet down-to earth-impression. I will certainly use the sample and am thinking of adding this to my collection.
