Les Indemodables Vanille Havane was released in 2020. Created by Antoine Lie, centered on vanilla and booze, it has notes of tobacco, cacao, rum, vanilla, dried fruits, amber, leather.
From the brand - "In Vanille Havane by Les Indémodables, perfumer Antoine Lie celebrates the singular ingredient vanilla by taking you on an immersive Virtual Reality journey through its olfactive complexity. With an emphasis not on the one-dimensional confectionary sweetness many vanilla fragrances highlight but rather on the authentic vanilla bean’s dark richness, Vanille Havane becomes Lie’s interpretation of vanilla as an intoxicating fragrance with facets of rum, dried fruits, cocoa, cigar, and dark florals that reverberate on an ambery leather base."
Les Indemodables Vanille Havane Reviews
Fragrantica - "Boozy rum , dark cacao , tobacco dried in the sun , next in the olfactory journey I get some type of dried fruit nuance , the vanilla is raw and not sweet —- Drydown stage is mostly organically produced nuance of the above combined . It is slightly powdery on skin similar to how a “cloud” of dark cacao powder would feel like . Everything is presented beautifully"
Fragrantica - "Refined and elegant take on vanilla with some rum/spices, "
Fragrantica - "Not your typical vanilla fragrance. Vanille Havane isn’t about excess or sweetness. It offers a more restrained, textured take on vanilla: dry, slightly bitter, with tobacco and cocoa lending both warmth and shadow. There’s something almost tactile in the way these notes settle, like worn leather or sun-warmed wood. The vanilla feels infused rather than dominant, gradually emerging through a haze of dried fruit, rum, and subtle smoke. It stays close to the skin, evolving in soft waves without ever turning loud or syrupy. There’s an elegance here, quiet and grounded. The kind of scent you notice more when it’s gone. I find myself reaching for it on cooler evenings, when I want something composed, with presence but no show. Something to explore note to decorate."
Fragrantica - "I dislike most modern sweet, vanilla centric fragrances with passion, they feel so uncanny it's almost offensive. This vanilla captures the nuances of a real vanilla bean in an organic way, the very facets that make natural vanilla so delicious. It’s basically vanilla pod nuances under a microscope. Brilliant work!"
Fragrantica - "When you first smell is strong, but after 20 min you understand why this is the best vanilla fragrance in the world, masterpiece , amazing"
Fragrantica - "I might've well teleported from lower Manhattan to a Cuban cigar bar with the ghost of old Hemmingway himself next to me puffing away on a Romeo y Julieta with a drink in hand. Vanille Havane is a true work of art that manages to encompass so many thoughts and emotions in eight or so notes. The vanilla comes off very boozy and natural at the heart while the rum and tobacco dance seamlessly between. The cacao is interesting depending on what you know because I get both the frutiness of raw cacao partially overripe and fermenting but also cacao powder. The base much like the background music is followed up by a steady rhythm of leather, amber, and faint florals."
