Louis Vuitton Matiere Noire is part of the launch of Louis Vuitton's new perfume line in 2016. Under the direction of Jacques Cavallier Belletrud in Grasse, it was four years in the creation, with the initial launch collection is made up of Apogee, Contre Moi, Dans la Peau, Matiere Noire, Mille Feux, Rose des Vents and Turbulences. From the brand - "Exploring the universe is the ultimate travel fantasy and most thrilling adventure. Matière Noire plumbs intangible depths with a journey through the darkest, most precious woods, namely patchouli and agarwood. The agarwood’s animal notes are intensified by blackcurrant and contrasted with the whiteness of narcissus and jasmine, a floral vibration that cuts the darkness like a comet. Plumes of sacred notes unfurl on the skin. The disruption is total, almost mystical."
Louis Vuitton Matière Noire was created by Jacques Cavallier and has notes of blackcurrant syrup, watery notes, rose, cyclamen, narcissus, jasmine, agarwood, incense, patchouli and benzoin.
Louis Vuitton is a French luxury fashion company - famous for their gorgeous and distinctive bags and the LV monogram. Founded in 1854, it was folded into LMVH, which has the brands of Moet et Chandon, Hennessy and Louis Vuitton.
Fragrantica - "Jammy black currant, rose opening. I get rose, heady narcissus, and minty, watery, aqueous woods. Dry down is sensual and cool; effervescent is the word I'm looking for. Watery and fruity oud, without the heaviness of oud. I imagine this on a contemporary woman who is charismatic and magnetic, and is also very comfortable with her femininity. Distant, yet at the same time, familiar."
Fragrantica - "I absolutely love this. It remains my favorite scent for years now. Such a warm, beautiful, deep scent. It's sugary while not being overpowering. The black currant and oud is stunning and complex. To me, there is nothing like this fragrance. It is stunning. Gourmand but not overpowering."
Fragrantica - "The black currant accord is deliciously jammy on my skin and the oud provides its signature dark, medicinal aroma which emanates for hours on warm skin. Maitere Noire, despite its heaviness, could easily be considered a crowd-pleaser as many people already wear and adore compositions such as this one. Scents in a similar vein to Maitere Noire include Penhaligon's Halfeti, Atelier Cologne's Rose Anonyme and Montale's Aoud Queen Roses."
