Imaginary Authors Impassable Wilderness was released in 2026, created by perfumer Josh Meyer, as a collaboration with LAIKA's film WILDWOOD. It features notes of grand fir, scotch pine, resurrection fern, red cedar, oakmoss, petrichor and the ancient grove. A rain-soaked hike into the deepest, darkest woods.
From the brand - "Just beyond the city of Portland in the Pacific Northwest, there’s a place where people just don’t go. The forest is too deep. The hills are too steep. Overgrown and impassable, these woods have remained hidden for generations from the world outside. ... It is a tale of love, loss, sacrifice and secrets, and of the magic you can find on your doorstep, if you are willing to look for it."
Fragrantica - "This might be the physical limit for how woody a fragrance can be. The initial blast is almost like pine tar, almost overwhelming. It's a pine forest after a drought when it rains just enough to wake all the scents up. ... My only knocks is that it seems to last a shorter time than most IA fragrances, by hour 4 I can hardly pick it up at all, and that my cat hates it more than any other scent I own."
Fragrantica - "...I get a very realistic sap and fir scent. It smells like Christmas tree shopping as a kid. Dank, dark green fir and pine sap. ..."
Fragrantica - "It's very pleasant woody resins with some fern and a highly realistic petrichor dry down! It definitely smells like a dark forest in Oregon which is what it's inspired by. Rich forest woods and a rainy petrichor dry down! Perfect for the Wildwood story and I will be wearing it to see the movie!"
Fragrantica - "...This fragrance makes me feel like I’m standing deep in the middle of a wild, untouched forest after the rain. It’s fresh, green, woody, and incredibly atmospheric. You can almost smell the pine trees, damp earth, and moss around you. It truly feels like being lost in the wilderness"
Fragrantica - "This is the pine scent I've always wanted... If you love a dirt, wet soil, mossy scent this is heavenly. ... it would make a divine candle scent!"
Fragrantica - "Absolutely horrid damp pine-sol"
Fragrantica - "I need to smell this so bad I might pop a hernia"
