Melanie Martinez Cry Baby was originally launched after her "Cry Baby" album in 2016, then discontinued. They have relaunched in 2025 by Portals Parfum. Created by Catherine Selig, it has notes of milk, strawberry, forest fruits, powdery notes, caramel, and woody notes. Melanie Martinez Cry Baby is an eau de parfum, edp.
From the brand - “Sweet and nostalgic, “Cry Baby Perfume Milk” captures the spirit of the girl who is playfully innocent, but conceals an irreverent edge. The first impression is a complicity of dark fruity notes, while strawberry milk and a lipstick accord are layered to contrast the dark fruits. The heart of “Cry Baby Perfume Milk” invites you to experience innocent darkness while Melanie’s childhood memories are evoked through a soft, nostalgic baby lotion accord. Feminine yet mischievous and unapologetic, the base of the fragrance is wrapped in a sweet layer of burnt caramel complimented by a blend of sinister woods."
Fragrantica - "Probably the most delectable berry perfume I've tried, even if it does has distinctly *inedible* plastic doll-head note underneath. (For 90s kids raised with Fun Dip, Fruit-by-the-foot, and Trix, is it any wonder that perfume-that-smells-like-food-that-smells-like-plastic is such a draw?) But mostly, this smells like eating a Wildberry Poptart in the woods. The bottle primes you for expecting a pastel, powdery pink scent but this is more like the artificial carnage of crushing raspberries or blackberries in your bare hands, or a blue-black tongue after a blueberry snack. Very fun and playful, and I would un-ironically wear this any day of the week."
Fragrantica - "genuinely one of the most unique fragrances i have ever smelt in my life!! to my nose, it's extremely fruit forward, rather than milk, and the powder notes start to come through in the dry down. it opens with a scent that is so reminiscent of childhood, like opening up a pack of fruit snacks at recess."
Fragrantica - "This is a great perfume for those who like very sweet fruity scents without smelling like a middle school girl if that makes any sense lol."
Fragrantica - "This is for a very particular person , sort of like you are (or act like you are) in your early 20s - sweet and playful. The kind of girl who still has a bunch of dusty ass plushies in their room and loves sweet powdery crap? Man, I don’t know . It’s an experience that I haven’t seen captured in any other scent."
Fragrantica - "This fragrance is definitely weird in that good addictive way! Not exactly the strawberry milk I was expecting, had been awhile since I read the full description, so that's on me. I do get strawberry milk, but definitely also that vintage lipstick smell, which is quite nostalgic and unusual in a perfume. Kinda tickles the brain, I suspect that's why it's so popular. It also has a darker sensual side, which I like. Yet, it's cozy and comforting, perfect for wearing to bed."
