Description

Pan Seven Aged Tea was launched in 2021 and won the Art and Olfaction Award for Independent Perfume 2022. A unique take on tea from a Taiwan company. This fragrance was created by Pan Yuqing and Huang Chien Shun. Pan Yuqing was a master of tea and teacher of tea ceremony before going into the world of perfumery. Notes of aged Taiwanese tea, fresh herbs (green tea, oolong tea and grass), eastern tea (black tea and black plum), smoky woods (camphor, cedar and Taiwan fir). It is a complex, close to the skin scent that is a must-smell for tea lovers.

From the brand -
"A cup of incense that condenses time, one leaf, and one universe. This fragrance captures all things awakening noble and simple. It portrays elements of the earth and seasons with aromas of ebony, sweet longan, rich smoke, and a soothing woody aroma. It contains notes from aged Taiwanese tea, with top notes of fresh herbs (green tea, oolong tea, and grass), middle notes of eastern tea (black tea and black plum), and base notes of smoky woods (camphor, cedar and Taiwan fir).
Time is a quiet poem. The aged tea has been stored for years or even decades. It contains the information of the seasons and the land, and is a kind of distant memory of the past. I want to turn the time that people are constantly chasing into a bottle of fragrance in our hands, so that the fragrance, through the time and the past reflected by the power of nature, picks up our long buried passions; it is a smile, but also a tear. Everyone can more or less interpret this aged tea fragrance in their own way. Perhaps the scent tested by time is a dreamy candy rain for you, or a cold spring in the ancient desert, or, more likely, a beautiful scenery in front of you at the moment."

Reviews of Pan Seven Aged Tea

Reddit - "The opening is a very convincing presentation of East Asian cypresses. Some people here may be familiar with the smell of Hinoki, which is one of the many cypresses in this area. Somewhat unusual, a scent with woods leading the way. Within the opening I also detect osmanthus and a more balsamic note which smells like a mix of frankincense and freshly cut camphor laurel. The heart is beautiful. The closest rendition of high quality tea I have smelled, outside of me freshly brewing some hand-rolled oolong in my Vermilion Clay pot. Jin Xuan oolong is a lightly roasted oolong with a creamy, floral and grapefruit-y aroma, which has been captured here very holistically. Tea snobs like myself will often smell the ceramic ware after the tea dries up - bottom of the cup, lid of the pot, sometimes a ceramic scenting spoon - and the aroma that results from high quality oolong is absolutely beautiful, much more complex and intoxicating than anything man-made (yes, even niche perfumes)...so, I am glad that this perfume manages to capture a partial aspect of this."

Fragrantica - "This is an incredible recreation of an aged Chinese tea, reminds me of aged white tea. Definitely crafted by a teahead. There is an astringent smokiness to it. I wouldn't say it's a safe blind buy for everyone."

Fragrantica - "An exceptionally beautiful tea perfume. Gentle, quiet, smell just like the decades-old chinese tea cake. The smoky notes make it feels like a cup of hot chinese tea, which is very relaxing, even giving a sense of Zen."

Fragrantica - "One of the best tea perfumes I've ever worn in my life. And with this one, the scent is highly accurate to the fragrance of real aged tea. I love it so much and got complimented from a fellow tea lover when wearing this."

Fragrantica - "This is one of the most sophisticated tea scent so far I've tried. Where most of other brands when making tea scent perfumes; they try too much on amplifying the tea scent with strong base/foundation notes (this in my opinion sometimes ruin the tea scent, make it repulsive and too strong); the tea scent here in Aged Tea is very much intimate; soft; relaxing and gentle."

Fragrantica - "This is tea and basically tea only, but oh what a tea scent. Gentle and quiet but filled with depth and phases. Gets smokier as it goes along. Perfect for cosy evenings at home or spring/summer days/evenings.
Wears very gentle and soft."
