Parfum d'Empire Musc Tonkin Extrait is the original release from Parfum d'Empire. It was a limited edition and is much richer than the EDP that is part of the current line. Musc Tonkin is based on tonkin musk which has been prized by the Chinese for its aphrodisiac virtues. Its smell is considered so heavenly by Islam that is was blended into the mortar of some mosques so that they would exhale it in the sun. Perfumers considered it one of the most precious ingredients. The scent originally came from the Himalayan deer but for ethical reasons is no longer used. However, natural musk continues to haunt perfumers since it has never been perfectly replicated, until now. Musc Tonkin blends the most opulent raw materials to recreate the scent of tonkin musk.
