Description

I Broke My Own Heart is a floral fruity gourmand fragrance that launched in 2022. Created by Alie Kiral, this fragrance reminds us of the early 2000’s era of communication - instant messenger, chat rooms, and late nights gossiping at slumber parties. I Broke My Own Heart will unlock a specific memory for many, and evoke a time that many emulate now. It's an homage to the gourmand scent trend while taking it to a more daring and animalic place for the grown-ups we’ve been forced to become. This fragrance is a moody love spell to comfort any broken heart.

Smelling like hot cocoa, your favorite sweatshirt and a bit of leftover teen angst, I Broke My Own Heart features notes of petit grain, toasted coconut, jasmine, seaweed and sandalwood. It is an eau de parfum, edp.

PEARFAT PARFUM I BROKE MY OWN HEART

Reddit: Oh. My. Gosh. This is soooo good. It's warm and cozy and lovely. Creamy cocoa, creamy sandalwood, creamy jasmine... Jasmine is another no note for me (honestly more like hell no) and it's presence here is wonderful. It's fairly light here for me and lends a wonderful...uh...still creaminess to the scent (along with everything else here haha). I didn't get much of the petitgrain and while there's no cocoa technically listed here, I think the combo of the specifically toasted coconut combined with the sandalwood give the vibes of chocolate. The seaweed is also very appreciated here as it helps ground the scent and gives just a bit of funk that I oh so love. The only thing disappointing about this one for me is that it does not last very long on my skin. If I were to, however, buy a full size and spray it on clothes that would be a different story I think. I would definitely classify this one as a "skin" scent as it doesn't project much, but I do think that kind of lends itself well to the cuddly/cozy vibes one would get with wearing a sweater that you haven't washed yet but your perfume still lingers.

Reddit: Opening is strange, almost savory/smoky, but then the sweetness comes out. My boyfriend said it smelled like an antique store or a witchy/metaphysical store that burns incense. It smells a bit like salty brown sugar. I don’t really get the jasmine at all. I tried it again after thinking about it a lot, and I smell the toasted coconut. This time my boyfriend said it smelled like pumpkin spice. I assumed it would be a summer perfume because of the coconut and seaweed, but I want to try it in cooler weather. Slightly disappointing because I was hoping for more jasmine, but it’s so unique, and there’s something a little addictive about it. 4/5

Reddit: I wasn't particularly excited to try this one, and that is how I learned that I am ridiculous and have no idea what I like or want. The idea of this scent is a nostalgic tribute to the 2000's that hints at the gourmands of the era while being more sophisticated. The toasted coconut hits beautifully; I expected it to be sweet and sticky like a cookie, but it's not sugary. It's hard for me to pick out exact notes. It smells like a clean but slightly dusty room. Like hanging out in your friend’s computer room in the basement. Small hint of sugary mint. Whiff of cocoa/coconut sweetness with humid, dusty fabric. I do not typically like gourmands, but this is very relaxing and pleasant. It probably wouldn’t register as a perfume to others who smelled it on you. Wet, clean hair, warm soft cotton, brushed teeth, half eaten box of Girl Scout cookies, heavy warm air. Boyfriend also dislikes gourmands but likes this. And this is definitely a gourmand--it smells tasty--but in a quiet, kind of sweaty way. I feel like you could wear this anywhere and not bother anyone. It registers like it might just be how you smell, because your house smells like that. It is the smell of an extremely welcoming house.

Fragrantica: Toasted coconut doughnut sitting on top of seaweed sheets. Slightly gourmand, gives a bit of a Killian vibe. Sturdy sandalwood base holds it together. Doesn't project.

Fragrantica: Upon opening you get a big dose of a creamy coconut note that’s somewhat sunscreen adjacent and a hint of some beachy seaweed. It smells like the beach, but more so like a small little secluded coast. It smells like you’re vacationing in a quaint little beach house with one room and a broken down porch that’s nestled right in front a small little private shore. The jasmine creeps in as an airy and sweet floral and mixes with the coconut to make a a subtly sweet aroma. The seaweed doesn’t stick around for too long, and you get a lot of that sandalwood in the dry down. It’s a softly sweet and creamy airy beach type of scent that feels comforting and subtle.

Fragrantica: A creamy and slightly lactonic jasmine. floral scented sunscreen, coconut body spray, biting into a sugar free cupcake, and rinsing sand from clothing. pulls incredibly sweet on my skin and i love it. sweetheart certified.

Fragrantica: Oh my goodness, my favorite of the Pearfats I smelled. Such a romantic and well balanced scent, classy and totally not cloying. Totally get that sense of longing, summer love, late nights up dreaming of someone... To describe it, it's like a white floral with slight oceanic/marine notes, a teen girl's room by the beach, ocean breeze and sunscreen. such a great scent, deeply endearing.

Fragrantica: I struggle with coconut a lot--it usually smells really synthetic to me, but this one is so good. sweet and salty and tropical but not sunscreen-y. it's the type of summery scent i feel like you could totally wear this in colder weather. it's a good "missing summer" scent. i love how nostalgic every pearfat scent is: this feels like what you wanted the coconut body sprays at the mall to smell like as a teenager. not to say it's not unique, though! i find it really interesting, although there are other scents from the discovery kit i'm more interested by. that's more my personal taste though. this is so good if you're looking for something tropical.

Fragrantica: Soft, slightly soapy jasmine. Coconut at its most balsamic. A hint of brisk green petitgrain. A salty breeze. This one is dreamy and wearable but not the most “me”. I ended up giving it to a friend who is a cashmere- and linen-clad bohemian angel — it suits her gorgeously!

Fragrantica: My immediate impression on spraying was that this smells EXACTLY like the sweet sticky rice dessert you get at thai restaurants. sweet (but not sugary), creamy, nutty, and slightly savory (which i imagine is from the seaweed note, though i don't recognize it as such). i don't really get a beach/sunscreen scent as others have mentioned, but this does feel very much like a summery/warm weather scent. i wish this lasted longer than ~1-2 hours on my skin and had a little more projection, but it's a subtle, beautiful gourmand.
