Penhaligon's Halfeti was launched in 2015 as part of the Trade Routes collection. Halfeti are the rare black roses that grown along the Euphrates River. Tradition has it that the Rose of Halfeti absorbs the wickedness in the world - starting dark red, then eventually turning black. Created by Christian Provenzano, this spiced rose has become a cult classic in this line. Notes of cypress leaf, saffron, cardamom, artemisia, bergamot, grapefruit, Bulgarian rose, nutmeg, jasmine, agarwood (oud), leather, cedar, sandalwood, amber, vanilla, tonka bean and musk. Fragrantica - "This is definitely on the masculine side but more feminine-friendly. I love this rosey, leather concoction. Theres a random note that plays peekaboo with my nose- maybe it's the saffron? Whatever it is I adore it!"

Fragrantica - "Rose is not the strongest note in this mixture, but it blends so beautifully with the penetrating notes of both leather and oud and the tangy note of saffron that it's definitely the note that pulls all this together. Normally I might find this kind of fragrance too much (I am usually not a fan of heavy oud), but the addition of tonka and vanilla (in extremely small amounts) smooths all this out somehow, although the overall roundness probably is more of a concession to Western European and American tastes than those of Asia Minor, which this claims by its very name to evoke. (The name refers to the legendary black roses of the Turkish village of Halfeti, and this is indeed a very dark rose accord.)"
