Regime des Fleurs Tears was originally launched in 2022 and created by Mathieu Nardin - a glorious and melancholy lilac fragrance. Notes of green cognac, pink pepper, mandarin orange, orange blossom, lilac, orris, olibanum, ambergris and musk.
From the brand's founder and perfumer - "The smell of love is lilacs. The smell of heartbreak? Lilacs a few days later—intensified and earthier, perhaps even ready to return to the ground. The first tear surprises you—a spicy green cognac, a hint of pink pepper, and orange flower. Then, tears start to fall down your face—impressionistic lilacs, the chill of olibanum lends gravity in the longer hours, musk melds with skin as the sadness fades. There is no greater luxury than being nostalgic for memories you never had. Alia Perfumer & Founder
Fragrantica - "Tears isn’t inherently sad with its bright and crisp opening. However, the lilac in here becomes increasingly dewy as you wear it, mimicking petals wilting as clouds begin to block the sun. This fragrance smells less like sadness and more like forgetting that you were ever happy to begin with. It is a beautifully melancholic reminder that “nothing gold can stay.”
Fragrantica - "If you want to feel like a ghost in an old French castle, holding a small book of poems in your hand, crying alone in an empty lilac garden over past loves."
Fragrantica - "Tears is aptly named. This perfume is airy, light, and ethereal. There is an innocence to this fragrance that is so sweet and pure, it makes you want to cry. Tears is a CLASSIC Regime Des Fleurs blend - gorgeous naturals that unfold and tell a story. The lilac and rose in this perfume are divine, with the pink pepper giving some spice and interest. I love the addition of orange and cognac to help brighten up the composition as well. I'm from the Midwest, so lilac is always an immediate hit of nostalgia for me - Tears of nostalgia! Personally, I feel this is sits close to the skin, and is perfect for office wear. When I wear Tears, I envision beautiful angels and cherubs floating up in the clouds. They are cloaked in all white, looking down on Earth, and shedding a tear at its destruction."
Fragrantica - "A melancholic bloom...heavy with waning, pale purple blossoms beneath gravid, overcast skies. This is a lilac musk; a fresh and humid moment at the end of the short window of life in which these tender flower-bunches explode with ephemeral joy. Sweet decay flanked by vigorous yet tempered foliage; it's sweet and creamy but not gourmond, it's fresh but not juvenile. It's honest and assertive, it's absolutely lovely."
Fragrantica - "The first time I tried Tears, it immediately gave me Jane Austen vibes, all soft florals and timeless elegance. But when I tried it again yesterday, something clicked. The lilacs hit me in a way I didn’t notice before, and suddenly it reminded me of Nosferatu by Heretic Parfums. That melancholic spring feeling, like the world just starting to bloom but with a touch of sadness. I couldn't resist, I had to make it mine!"
