Cacharel Anais Anais was the first perfume for Cacharel (a French brand of ready-to-wear clothing and accessories founded in 1962). It is a soft fresh floral fragrance that remains one of the most popular floral fragrances and is one of the reference scents for the early 1980s.
It is quite interesting that in the late 1970s and early 1980s when empowerment for women was all the rage, that Cacharel would choose to advertise their new fragrance in a commercial with innocent-looking, porcelain-skinned young women not speaking a word while classical music played--very Raphael-like imagery. In their print ads, famed photographer Sarah Moon produced a seductive, romantic ad that was very different from other perfume advertising.
Anais Anais is still available as both Anais Anais and Anais Anais L’Original.
This is the original eau de toilette version of the fragrance.
Cacharel Anais Anais Reviews
Fragrantica: "This takes me right back to being a very young teenager. Maybe between 15/16?...I get the rose, and in the dry down, I get the best bits of all, sandalwood, dreamy lingering incense, I get musk.
It’s just the right amount of everything to my nose. I really adore this perfume. "
Fragrantica: "Anais Anais...even the name sounds like a caress. It is a layered floral intoxication like none other that I've experienced. Soft and gentle, a hand grazing a cheek, and assertively strong, like a brazen woman kissing first."
