This line was conceived by Béatrice Aguilar-Cassarà and inspired by her love of both fragrance and art. A formally-trained nose she collaborated with other perfumers to travel the world to source the best ingredients to create the five fragrances in this line. At this Spanish perfume house based in Barcelona, the fragrances are created first and then presented to visual artists who create an original work of art based on their olfactory experiences of the scents. Pigments used in the paints serve as the inspiration for the fragrance names.
Rose Opéra was created by Jordi Fernandez who was captivated by the explosion of beauty in a field of saffron. When he spoke with Béatrice Aguilar-Cassarà she remembered that it was rumored that Cleopatra and Mark Anthony perfumed themselves with saffron before their romantic encounters. They created this sophisticated and daring fragrance using top notes of Calabrian bergamot, jasmine and wild strawberry; middle notes of saffron, nutmeg, pink pepper, cardamom, mace, tagetes and artemisia; and base notes of Cyperus esculentus, Java vetiver oil, mastic, patchouli, Virginia cedar and incense. Rose Opéra is an eau de parfum, edp.
This fragrance was limited to a run of 50 bottles.
