Serge Lutens Tubereuse Criminelle There's no good way to introduce this beloved Serge scent except to just say it - this is the weirdest experience of perfume you will ever have. From the blast of camphor at the open (you may make a face like "the Scream" when you sniff it", when you are thinking at any moment you will choke, much less figure out where the tuberose is hiding, to the moment about an hour in you will be walking through a room thinking "man, who smells so freaking amazing" and realize it is you), this is just an experience you have to take. You may wind up hating it or loving it, but you won't be indifferent to it. It took me a few tries and some years to develop the deep love I have for this scent, but it is there, and I don' stop at dabbing it, I spray the darn thing on, throwing caution and self-respect to the wind and head out to the grocery store trailing ethereal tuberose sillage through the cereal aisle like Gloria Swanson in the Final Phase Crazy Days. Tubereuse Criminelle is in the Floral fragrance group.
This isn't just perfume, Tubureuse Criminelle is entertainment.
Reviews of Serge Lutens Tubereuse Criminelle from noses that may or may not sniff like your nose.
Reading the reviews on it is entertainment too.
From Tom at Perfume Smellin' things/Perfume Posse "It has an opening that almost defies you to loathe it; a strange, almost sickly mentholated, smokey, leathery accord that also has whiffs of something very much like gasoline. (While writing this and re-reading it I realise that the only way I could make this read less appetizing or pleasant is if I wrote that it smelled of road kill and fruit loops).
and
"This is tuberose in bondage. If Fracas would be the scent that Joan Crawford would dab on before plugging Sydney Greenstreet, Tubereuse Criminelle would be what Uma Thurman would dab before opening a heaping helping can of whoop-ass on David Carradine."
My comment in a "Genius and Evil Genius" post we did on Perfume Posse - "A mix of camphor and
tuberose, it assaults the nose, calling to mind the the sound of hoofbeats as the Four Horsemen pull up to your house to let you know the End 'O the World as you Knew It has come, and there will be no more just sweet flowery perfumes on their own, they will be combined with "other things." like rubber mentholatum steeped in turpentine."
and
"If you have your whip tucked in the belt of your leather jumpsuit and are ready to teeter over to the local Spank Me Hard Bar and Grill on your Jimmy Choos with the 4-inch heels, you'll need this to ward off overzealous beaus, The Undead or Parliament." Perfume Posse list of Bad Girl Perfumes
