Solstice Scents Scrying Smoke is made for resin lovers, running closer to Messe di Minuit than Armani Prive Bois d'Encens, and it lasts, well, forever apparently (sniffing hand after a few washings and 24 hours). Notes of frankincense oils and smoke, vanilla, sandalwood, vetiver, rosewood, mandarin, labdanum, petitgrain, cedar, tonka, hinoki wood, etc.
From the brand "It is dark, reverent, sacred, meditative, calming, protective, mysterious, offertory, uplifting, grounding and ritualistic. The resin is warm and diffusive, evocative of the thurible smoke at Catholic service. This is not a single note frankincense essential oil; it is so much more. Scrying Smoke captures the scent of the bubbling, melting Hojary frankincense tears. Frankincense has been used for thousands of years in spiritual practice. It is an excellent aid for scrying and meditation."
Solstice Scents Scrying Smoke is an eau de parfum, edp.
The Redolent Mermaid - "A frankincense dream. The tangy resin of frankincense undulates with vanilla and cedar in a dance that constantly shifts from golden light to blue shadows. The petitgrain highlights the lemony spine of frankincense while vetiver darkens the smokiness. A mysterious changeling and unlike any other frankincense fragrance I have experienced. That vanilla and cedar."
Fragrantica - "this is the most realistic chunk of frankincense resin burning on a charcoal tablet scent. It’s so meditative and zen. I breathe in, and it clears my sinuses and my mind. I picture an incense censer trailing smoke sitting alone in a small clearing in the the middle of a massive forest of cedars. I think this is perfect for meditation and relaxation. You won’t find a better incense fragrance, from any mainstream or niche house, this one is perfection. Fantastic silage and longevity."
Fragrantica - "Scrying Smoke is the most realistic, true-to-form “burning frankincense” fragrance I have ever encountered. It’s magickal, truly. It accurately and realistically captures the entire bouquet of the ritual of burning frankincense resin on a charcoal tablet..."
Fragrantica - "My initial fantasy thoughts about this before reading the notes, were; 1) Feudal Japan. lone samurai riding thru a forest, and
2) there's something wet ink about this, hiding in the background. The initial smokiness clears pretty quickly, allowing the frankincense and cedar to come forward, but then I really get this strong backbone of hinoki and some rosewood/pettigrain weaving in and out. Really pleased with this."
Indie Scent Library - "If you love frankincense this is for you. Like the description says the other notes just round it out. This is a beautifully smooth and rich frankincense, very grounding and meditative, I love to use to calm down and get myself ready for sleep, or as a stress reliever."
