Fragrantica: I may be a city rat, but when I wear Wild Whims I am a cowboy. I sit, alone but not lonely, on a hillside with the piquant scent of citron on the wind. As my fire smolders, the red-hot coals illuminate nearby patches of sweet grass and clary sage. The sky is dark and endless; the animals sleep well, comforted by the knowledge that the sun will rise again tomorrow.
Fragrantica: A very crisp green opening, like when you cut rose stems, not grass. Unfortunately it seems this new collection has serious longevity problems. The base remains but that glorious green is gone in just a few minutes.
margotellena.com: I picked Wild Whims up on, well, a whim about a year ago from a cute little shop in Portland, OR. I’ve been using it off and on for a year and it is one of the most unique and beloved perfumes I own. It is refreshingly green and bright, and at least on my skin the floral notes give the scent body and smoothness without ever really standing out as a floral, giving the sage and sweet grass all of the spotlight but none of the sharp astringency herbal perfumes can sometimes have. This perfume has a permanent spot in my collection and when I use it up, I’ll be repurchasing immediately.

The trick is to wear it with another sweeter scent. This scent smells like the green parts of a wildflower, so think about how freshly cut stems from mums. Now, I occasionally want to wear it by itself because I like how different it is, but I am on my second bottle of it because of how much use I get from wearing it layered with so many other scents. I’ve never had anything like this before and I hope it never goes out of production. All of the perfumes in this new line have been unexpected and delicious, but this one is truly unique. margotellena.com: It smells like nature, like the flowers and trees after it rains and they are cleansed. As another comment stated and I agree with, it smells like greenery and walking into a florist. Just a pure aroma of plants. Starts out strong but mellows out and is very fresh. This is the type of scent I'd love to wear early in the day.
