Tom Ford Venetian Bergamot joined the Private Blend line in the fall 2015. Who knew bergamot could stand completely on its own? Smoothing bergamot out with the woods and tonka, it gets a little kick from the pepper and ginger before the florals give it depth. And it is really more a gardenia perfume than bergamot. That's a good thing. :)
Notes of bergamot, black and pink pepper, ginger, ylang-ylang, magnolia, gardenia accord, cedar, pepperwood, sandalwood, tonka bean, amber and cashmere accord.
Tom Ford Private Blend has released a prodigious and ever-growing number of fragrances, ranging from the amazing to the weird to the slightly kinky. Not all of them are masterpieces, but they usually are as interesting as Tom Ford himself.
From Best Men's Cologne - "I think that the most interesting aspect of this Tom Ford fragrance is the spicy notes in here. They aren’t heavy spices however, the white ginger is a nice addition to the warm pink pepper, and the hint of sharp black pepper sprinkled throughout. This is what keeps the fragrance in the unisex category, even as the white floral notes pull it toward the feminine side of things."
Fragrantica - "Luxurious sexy bergamot, not like any bergamot. Venetian Bergamot is a creamy gardenia and ylang ylang mixed with sandalwood and bergamot, you can feel the brightness from the bergamot but the fragrance overall is not in your face citrus. Unique scent 10/10"
Fragrantica - "This is a deep, silky, luxurious fragrance. Though I personally don’t get a huge amount of bergamot, it is there, more as an accent to the other notes. The central note for me is a very nice, very velvety ylang-ylang. As the dry down takes over, I get woods and some spices backing it all. It smells very rich, very high end, and yet, bohemian at the same time. This is a fragrance for an artist - a painter or a writer of some kind. I love the concept of this being inspired by the trade of previous ingredients in the Venetian markets. I would have left bergamot out of the name and focused on the Venetian element instead. “Venetian Market” perhaps would have been a better name. I highly recommend this if you want to feel wealthy and unique."
Fragrantica - "This scent is captivating on me from the first note until it fades. The citrus stays throughout it all but it's such a transformation from rich bergamot orchard over tart lime-like flavors in a ginger ale-rum cocktail to a lemon being cut on a woody cutting board. It's like a love letter of all things citrussy behind different backdrops and playgrounds. Rich, dark, flavourful."
Fragrantica - "This one is special. It is so beautiful. I love the open full of bergamot- smells lime-y. It is creamy and complex and just the most delicious magnolia scent appears. I would swoon if I smelled this on a man but it’s most definitely unisex."
