Unpredictable Natural Disasters Sampler - Set of Five 1/2ml Samples

A natural disaster is a catastrophic event caused by Earth's natural processes that severely impacts human populations, infrastructure and the environment. These occurrences overwhelm local capacity to cope and result in significant loss of life, property damage and economic disruption. Included are earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, landslides/avalanche, hurricanes (tropical cyclone), tornado, flood, wildfire, tsunami and drought. Additional natural hazards include meteorites, heat waves, blizzards, dust storms, firestorms, hail, ice storms, sinkholes, thunderstorms, tornadoes, monsoons and tsunamis. While an unusual subject for a sampler, there are some fabulous fragrances inspired by natural disasters. 

You will receive a 1/2ml sample (1ml sample vial filled half full) of each of the fragrances in this sampler.

1. (WILDFIRE) Cognoscenti No. 44 Fire and Rain EDP - A study in contrasts. Both are revered and feared. They are destructive and cause upheaval; yet they also stimulate change and renewal. This fragrance looks at both sides of each element through the filter of the California landscape. Memories of smoke-filled skies and mud slides at fire-scarred hillsides are tempered by sunny skies, soft breezes filled with flowers and warm woods, and a proximity to a salty coast. Made in small batches by architect and perfumer Danniele Sergent in San Francisco, Sergent explains that the “fragrance looks at both sides of each element through the filter of the California landscape. Memories of smoke-filled skies and mud slides at fire scarred hillsides are tempered by sunny skies, soft breezes filled with flowers and warm woods, and a proximity to a salty coast … In the 3 years since I started No. 44 the fragrance changed a lot. And so had the world around me. We’ve had raging fires and apocalyptic skies in California, mud slides and the isolation of the pandemic. With all of the drama unfolding, flowers, soft warm breezes and coastal walks were the things that restored me. All of these blended with the memories of the smoke-filled skies and the promise of rain formed the structure of the fragrance. A love letter to California.” Fire and Rain is the brand’s 10th anniversary fragrance. It was originally conceived as a scent sketch for the 2018 Los Angeles Experimental Scent Fair. The resulting fragrance, Mud + Fire/Flame, became an unexpected favorite, which inspired Sergent to “really look at the ingredients and create a fully formed perfume with a similar concept.” Fire and Rain grew out of this exploration and became, in Sergent’s words, “a love letter to California. A milestone.” It features notes of rain (geosmin), California coast (salt, Grisalva), sunshine (pink grapefruit, blood orange and saffron), florals (neroli, gardenia, Hedione, geraniol), smoke (cypriol, hydrocarboresin, vetiver) and warm breezes (light woods, musks, resins). It was an Art and Olfaction Awards 2023 Honorable Mention fragrance.
2. (EARTHQUAKE) Filippo Sorcinelli Delire de Voyage Epicentro Extrait de Parfum – Epicentro is the fragrance dedicated to an earthquake, and in particular, to the small town of Bolognola, a small town of 138 inhabitants, the highest of the Marche Region, located in the center of the Park Monti Sibillini National Park, severely affected by an earthquake. The earthquake is a particularly disruptive event violent, which arrogantly enters the lives of those who are involved, taking possession in seconds of their “normality”. External earthquakes increase our earthquakes interior: it is as if, with the disappearance of the security of the ground under your feet, a reflex was determined deep internal tremor. Fear and suffocation from dust is the first passage, escape the second, leaving everything: objects, memories, necessities, looking desperately to find refuge outside. The vision is blurred, eyes and throat sore from dust caused by the collapses; you try to find in the despair a small and faint light, which will become the only point of reference. Epicentro wants to be the reaction: to become aware of what happened, process it and react through it the security of a thought related to Beauty. Epicentro is a real artistic installation full of emotions that leads to actively enter within the work, through stimuli content that activates all five senses. It is a woody aromatic fragrance that launched in 2019 and features top notes of vetiver, angelica, benzoin, fir balsam, cumin, ambergris and lignum vitae; middle notes of calamus, ambrette seeds and mate; and base notes of Virginia cedarwood, bergamot and cedarwood.
3. (VOLCANO) Maison Crivelli Santal Volcanique EDP - A woody spicy musky fragrance that launched in 2018 and was created by Richard Ibanez. The defining adventure: the scent of scorched sandalwood on the slopes of an erupting volcano. A potent and addictive sandalwood brightened by the vibrant notes of a spicy coffee. Glowing spice-clouds, acid ashes, tremors: burning adrenaline. Ascent, 3700 metres. Beyond-black slopes: parched ylang, scorched sandalwood and cedar. Cascading coffee, crackling cardamom, roasting ginger. Roaring softness.
4. (MONSOON) Rahasya Cutting Rain EDP - Cutting Rain is a floral fragrance that launched in 2024. Created by Kajal Gujar, it is inspired by India's summer heat when it reaches its peak, and there's a palpable sense of anticipation that builds in the air. It is a yearning for the arrival of the first monsoon rain. Beyond sustenance, these rains rejuvenate ecosystems and inspire cultural celebrations. The monsoon rains represent fresh respite from the summer heat, new blossoms in verandahs and warm cups of chai with loved ones. Cutting Rain features top notes of strawberry, black tea, saffron, grapefruit and honey; middle notes of violet, rose and marigold; and base notes of leather, Cashmeran and Mysore sandalwood.
5. (METEORITE) Syd Botanica Meteorite EDP - A metallic and earthy perfume that poetically captures the scent of a meteorite crashing into the earth. Created by Syd Buffman, it features notes of cardamom, black pepper, saffron, meteorite accord, silver fir, black frankincense, oud, espresso and smoked earth.
