Xyrena is a compound of two terms - XY (the male and female chromosomes) and RENA (from the Latin word renascor which means "to be renewed or reborn). It also means “enchanter” in Old Greek. The company is certified 100% vegan and cruelty-free. They refer to themselves as olfactory rebels and welcome their customers to the "future of fragrance".
Part of Xyrena’s Reefer Madness Collection, Blue Dream is the world’s first parfum reproduction of arguably the most famous and popular marijuana strain. Blue Dream opens with the strains signature sweet blueberry aroma with just a hint of skunk and evolves into an earthy pepper scent with a lingering sweetness making the fragrance just as smooth and balanced as its flowering inspiration. To achieve a true to life interpretation of Blue Dream, the formula combines both synthetic fragrance oils with natural terpenes found in cannabis, including Alpha & Beta Pinene, Linalool and Caryophyllene. It is an aromatic fruity fragrance that launched in 2017 and was created by Killian Wells.
Blue Dream is an extrait de parfum.
XYRENA BLUE DREAM REVIEWS
Reddit: This fragrance starts with a generic fruity scent layered over dank or dirty undertones. On a test strip, it reminds me of cannabis. The dry-down evolves into a blue bubblegum or synthetic flavor intertwined with a weed strain essence.
Enchante Fragrance: Blue Dream is another legendary West Coast Strain of cannabis. Forever immortalized by Juicy J’s Mixtape “Blue Dream & Lean” (2011), Blue Dream is consistently one of the top selling strains of legal weed. A cross of Blueberry Indica and Sativa Haze, Blue Dream is said to produce a stable, calm, euphoric high that is good for both novice and veteran consumers. The one you break out when company is coming over, and you want everyone to enjoy themselves (but not get sloppy), Blue Dream is the Pinot Grigio of marijuana. Particularly loved by women and people over 40, Blue Dream is said to be not too strong, but quite uplifting, helping with mood and creativity without decreasing productivity. Blue Dream cannabis smells like blueberries and sandalwood, or an herbal-berry sugar cookie, tastes like sweet berries, and is said to act as a bronchodilator. The fragrance Blue Dream is described as “the world’s first parfum reproduction of arguably the most famous and popular marijuana strain.” The formula for Blue Dream perfume combines synthetic fragrance oils with natural terpenes found in cannabis, including Alpha & Beta Pinene, Linalool, and Caryophyllene. Blue Dream the fragrance is remarkable. The opening smells like tart blueberries, has a terpenic smell that reminds me of rosemary, and also has that familiar earthy and musty smell of weed, along with a tiny bit of skunk. While it’s wet on your skin, this is just like sniffing a big hairy bud. As it dries down, Blue Dream smells herbaceous, slightly grassy, mentholated, and has a little bit of peppery pungency. The tart blueberry smell persists, getting smoother and sweeter as time passes. The fragrance overall is balanced and uplifting, and although I think it smells the most like cannabis, it’s also the one that I find the most wearable of the three. Safeness for work – 5/10. Again, you won’t smell like you’ve been smoking marijuana. But you will smell like nugz to those who partake regularly. Like Blue Dream weed, the fragrance is the real thing, but also uplifting, smooth, and mild enough to be inoffensive to most people.
Fragrantica: First and foremost, no, this does not smell like cannabis. Cannabis smells 1. skunky and 2. funky. I haven't encountered the skunky note in any scent, but Nasomotto's Black Afgano (which is designed after hash, a cannabis product) comes pretty close in the funkiness category. This scent however is extremely green. If you have ever smelled chopped up plants, be it in rose stems after being cut or lawn trimmings or while picking flowers, that dry metallic fresh green plant scent, it's got THAT almost exactly. And then it has a very prominent blueberry - somewhere between ripe blueberries and blueberry syrup. Very sweet and bright. All together this comes together nicely into a very unique scent, I can understand the cannabis inspiration because that dry green plant note does indeed have some form of sharpness and pungency that cannabis also has. But it does not smell like a fresh bag of the devil's lettuce, if that's what you're expecting. Which I mean... that's probably for the best, right? This is a great scent. It's an odd one, from a smaller house, not afraid to do something a bit weird and different. And I respect that. The longevity and silage are both reasonable. You're not going to run people out of the house with just a few sprays of this one, and you're not going to smell it after you shower. But it's noticeable and gets through most of the day. Wouldn't wear it in super hot temperatures, that would be gross. Would be fine in cold weather but probably wouldn't come through as nicely as warmer weather. Ideal for later summer / early fall. Scent - 8/10. Longevity - 7/10. Silage - 6/10. Value - 8/10. Overall - 7.25 / 10, definitely not an every day wear but not a bad one to have around if you're feeling something a bit out there.
Fragrantica: This scent is wonderful. Especially for someone who smokes. Kind of smells like blueberry blunt wraps style blueberry with black pepper and green notes.
Fragrantica: Whenever it comes to cannabis-based fragrances, everyone always wants to know "Well, does it really smell like weed?" I have a love/hate relationship with the smell of cannabis herb--the first time I smelled it, I physically recoiled, and now it's one of those things where I kind of enjoy the smell but I don't know why, because I don't really enjoy the terpene scent that always dominates the lemon or pine or whatever else it's allegedly supposed to smell like. Again, I haven't smelled the Blue Dream strain and the Xyrena version might be 100% accurate for all I know, in which case Blue Dream must be the best-smelling weed out there because Blue Dream (the fragrance) smells amazing. It has a deliciously sweet blueberry note that's blended really nicely with that terpene-y, slightly musky weed scent. It's pretty linear, but the weed-y aspect gets more subtle on the dry-down, with the blueberry note slightly dominating throughout. I love it. I can't stop smelling it. This is what I wish real weed smelled like. I don't know if someone would smell this on you and mistake it for actual weed, but the performance is verrrry good so people you walk past will definitely smell it. You might be able to say "Oh it's a Bath & Body Works blueberry-scented body spray, that's weird that it smells like dank bud to you" and they might believe you, I don't know. Anyway, that was longer than I meant it to be and I'm guessing that there are very few people on here who would have any interest in a true-to-life cannabis fragrance, but there you go.
Fragrantica: Wawaweewa! Socks blown off! Caution: I tend to gravitate to extreme scents that are extremely unique - and this is definitely that. Ok - wet/juicy weed? Yes. Wet/juicy blueberry? Yes. This is - without a doubt - the most realistic marijuana smell I've come across. This isn't one of those "cannabis in the background" - this is a blueberry blunt with sticky weed that has yet to be lit. I'm 100% certain that this is my absolute favorite fragrance to date. The blueberry is sticky and jammy - just like the cannabis! This is top notch, realistic, fantastic presentation - and for the price: king! Edit: I'm coming back to edit this with a more understandable review. Earlier, I described the blueberry as "jammy" - while that's ok, I think a more accurate description would be "sweet and tart" - almost like a blueberry icee. The cannabis note takes a backseat for the first minute or so, until the tart-sweetness calms down a bit. When the cannibis shines through, you get a very accurate sticky marijuana smell. This is not a skank smell. Its really smooth. For the first time, I smell a fragrance that is identical to what it's supposed to be. Although at first, the blueberry will be the star - it quickly takes a back seat to the sticky marijuana. 3 hours of projection on skin. I'd imagine it would carry longer if sprayed on clothing. With exception to the first 5 minutes, the fragrance stays fairly linear. The cannabis note becomes stronger over time, but the over all feel of the fragrance doesn't change. i dont smoke pot - but damn, this is a comforting/unique scent. What a fantastic scent. 8/10.
