Description

Yves Saint Laurent Muse was created by Marie Salamagne.  Launched in 2025, it is a velvety iris with notes of lavender, clary sage, incense, orris, bourbon vanilla, ambrette, amberwood and ink. Yves Saint Laurent Muse is an eau de parfum, edp. Yves Saint Laurent Muse is part of the Le Vestiaire des Parfums Collection.

From the brand -

"Muse from Yves Saint Laurent's Le Vestiaire des Parfums is a fragrance characterized by its enigmatic ink accord. Created by Master Perfumer Marie Salamagne, this composition features woody notes with smoky facets, complemented by iris concrete and Bourbon vanilla absolute. It is described as a 'skin perfume' with a unique and memorable trail.

A composition of striking simplicity, created by Master Perfumer Marie Salamagne: "Ink reveals enigmatic woody notes, intimate and elegant smoky facets. It veils the skin with subtle dark, metallic, slightly iridescent, earthy nuances. To me, ink takes the colors of creativity and mystery. It stimulates the imagination."

Yves Saint Laurent Muse (YSL) Reviews

Fragrantica - "This one is a little hard to describe in terms of its scent but it's definitely up my alley. It's definitely not as strong as Babycat but it performs better than what has been said on here. I did two on the neck and it immediately seemed to be more or less gone but as I started going through my day and my skin warmed up, the fragrance came to life, it's definitely a nice moderate bubble, no complaints on performance. It also changes as you wear it, it's not totally linear. The colour of the fragrance and all the marketing seems to portray this as some dark women's perfume but to me this is a very warm unisex scent, better suited for autumn or winter. I feel the name and marketing are misleading, just like "Babycat". As other's have said, it's unique in my collection but I also feel there's something classic or nostalgic about it but I can't put my finger on it. Looks like 2025 might be a great year for new scents!"

Fragrantica - "Just got her today and she is unlike anything else in my collection. This is an unexpectedly niche scent for a house like YSL. She opens a bit sharp with the lavender and clary sage it is gives a slight chemical scent, then the incense, orris, and ambrette come through giving a musky softened orris, rounded out by sweetened smoky bourbon vanilla. The ink accord really brings out a nuanced if not elegant smoky wooden note. This is not a scent for everyone, this is elegant, sexy, mature, and mysterious. This is the most cohesive scent story I have experienced in a while. "

Fragrantica - "Muse is a beautifully crafted, very well balanced iris centric fragrance. My first impression was that it felt like a more feminine, softer Dior Homme Intense. A buttery iris with some lavender and lightly spiced (probably incence accord) nuances, but not a heavy one, somehow airy. Though "Inspiring Ink" refers to actual ink in brief and photo shoots, I suspect the "Ink" comes from the "The Inks" liquid lipstick series, because it smells like those kind of lipsticks. A preciously applied, velvety, dark mauve one... Neither too powdery, nor waxy, but cosmetic anyway.  Sillage and longevity are above average... I see Muse as a higly versatile, all year round, day and night, unisex, elegant perfume."

Fragrantica - "I just got this in the mail the other day and it’s so gorgeous. The ink note is so interesting how it’s weaved in with the other notes. I need more time with it to make a better review so I’ll update this later. Unisex but leans femme imo. Does bear some resemblance to DHI, a more fem version, but I find this one stands on it’s own and is unique. Powdery, vanilla, subtle sweet lavender, ink and ambrette with some beautiful orris in there too. A little smokey as well, but not much and I don’t get a lot of incense in it which for me is a good thing. Also I noticed that the perfumer for Muse, Marie Salamagne, created one of my fav fragrances Soie Malaquais."
