Description

Amouage Lyric Woman is one of the creations of Amouage artistic director, Christopher Chong.  Launched.  Amouage Lyric Woman is a dark, spice-filled rose oriental and makes me think of a Flamenca dancer, full of passion and fire, smoldering with sensuality, but absolutely all woman.  The incense base grounds this flirt-machine, providing the ground on which she does her dance.  Notes of cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, bergamot, rose, geranium, ylang, angelica, orris root, jasmine, incense, sandalwood, musk, woods, tonka gean, oakmoss, patchouli, vanilla and vetiver.

Amouage Lyric Woman Reviews

Luca Turin - "Great fragrances move me (and, I imagine, many others) to a sort of musical resonance. And in perfume as in music, progress largely consists of getting used to one novel dissonance after another. In this context, I can safely say that I have never smelled anything like the chord at Lyric’s chore. It is a rose, to be sure, cleverly extended at one end by a dry, dusty, woody accord in the manner of Lyric’s land of origin, Oman. What happens at the other end if a complete surprise. Where one expects a spicy, earthy uplift in the contemporary manner, there comes instead a plangent, overripe note, the exhalation of forgotten fruit in a sealed room. The effect is initially almost unpleasant but soon becomes celestial. Thelonius Monk would have understood this fragrance instantly."

Basenotes - "Like a high priestess of some ancient cult, this feminine potion of mystery is immersed in the smoky trail of incense via liturgical notes. But the lapping of floral(rose) notes and the dry opening provide the necessary balance, shifting it far off the ecclesiastical and into the boudoir. The final notes of powdery warmth radiate from the skin for hours on end.the scent reminds me of mature love.it is perfect for a classy night.maybe one of those dinner and a movie dates.if you want to seduce a special someone's sense of smell, this is the perfume that will leave a lingering and lasting impression of you on whomever is fortunate enough to experience it!"

Basenotes - "Lush dark roses, indolic muguet, dusty wood spices, sweetly fragrant incense. That's probably half the tale for this enchanting storyteller doesn't reveal the plot in a single wear. Lyric is an opulently gilded rose oriental, straight out of the pages of A Thousand and One Nights."

Fragrantica - "Hands down, the most beautiful and sexy rose perfume I have ever smelled, in my entire life. I own a sample of this scent and every time I remind myself about it and decide to retest it I think to myself, "Huh, I guess it's not as special as I remember". And then it dries down. Once it does that I'm intoxicated, powerless, nose glued to the wrist for the next several hours."

    Special

I also find it difficult to distinguish and separate the notes in Lyric Woman, but to me that is a sign of how well orchestrated it is. I never even think of it as a rose scent, but I love it, and when I wear it my husband always takes notice. Wearing it is a beautiful experience.

    Interesting

At first there was a strong spicy note, but not unpleasant. During the dry down it became a bit fruity. Longevity on me was short, so 4 stars.

    Wonderful Floral

Notes are hard to distinguish here, however the floral notes are delightful and the longevity is good. I've already purchased a second larger bottle. Would like to try more of Amouage.

    The Real Thing

How unfortunate for me that this is so expensive, because it is everything I love about classic perfume (clearly the quality of the ingredients and master blending) without being necessarily retro. It does disappear and then make it's presence known again in a mysterious way. I love the way it melds with my skin. My husband loved it. Unfortunately my thin little sample vial was leaky and slipped from my hand onto hard tile. I guess I'll have to wait....and save up for this one. The notes are so beautifully blended and articulated that I find it hard to describe. Highly recommended!

    Exquisitely womanly

A deep, dark spiced rose lolls on a bed of incense. Sometimes one spice comes a little to the fore, sometimes another, but the overall impression of feminine beauty continues. My only Amouage FB, and never regretted.

    Lovely Classic

I think this is a beautiful frangrance. It has a lovely "musical" way of allowing the various notes to come forward as it dries down. Although I am young, I would not sterotype what older women smell like by describing a scent as "old lady". My mother wears beautiful modern fragrances that younger women often wear. What is an "old lady sickly" smell? Does that mean the frangrance is a classic scent and is not for you?

    The dry down looses me..

Really liked this for the first hour or two, sparkling and interesting. Then came the old lady sickly vanilla that kept hanging on. Not great for my skin or personality!

    Love at first sniff

Amouage Lyric Woman was a surprise for me. Since I still have my perfume training wheels on, I assumed this fragrance would be far too powerful, intense, and just beyond my reach in terms of both ability to appreciate it and the money to buy it. My first word, actually my first SOUND, after applying it was "ahhhh". This is a womanly and gorgeous fragrance that is unabashedly bold and deserves to be just that. After I assaulted my husband with the wrist-thrust under his nose, his eyes widened and he said, "buy it". I told him the price. He repeated, "buy it". I'm not crazy. I have a lovely but rapidly dwindling decant and I'll keep that in stock. What I will not do, though, is ever run out of Amouage Lyric Woman.
