A Lab on Fire niche perfume is limited in production, using some of the finest perfumers in the world as well as the best raw materials. Their inspiration is finding what surprises you in unexpected places, to let a thing remain cloaked in mystery.

Carlos Kusubayashi founded A Lab on Fire. Born in Sao Paulo, he then spent his early years in Japan, learning the craft of making those amazing Japanese sliding doors. He took on a restoration project in Paris and then moved to New York. While there, he met a sculptor who incorporated scents into his art. Carlos became intrigued with this and wound up running the business side of the sculptor’s fragrance business.

Eventually Carlos launched his own fragrance, L’Anonyme ou OP-1475-A in 2011. It was created by Olivier Polge, a unisex fragrance that has a crisp, modern, minimalist feel without veering off into the “too fresh” fragrance badlands. Bergamot, geranium, woods, amber and suede are the notes that make up this composition that is easy to wear.

In 2012 he added A Lab on Fire What We Do in Paris is Secret and that was the perfume that brought this line to our attention. Created by master perfumer Dominique Ropion, this fragrance is warm and rich and sensual. Bergamot, honey, lychee, Turkish rose, tonka bean, vanilla, heliotrope, tolu, sandalwood, ambergris and musks are the notes for this seriously beautiful-to-wear fragrance.
