Reddit: "The first time I ever tried this perfume, I described it to a friend as a perfume no one could object to. This is clearly technically false (in this subReddit alone, folks disliking the congac note abound), but to me it remains a sweet, elegant, and timeless scent, which is very much present but without being overpowering. Vanilla and amber are the dominant notes, while the cognac is lurking about in the background making this more grown up with a soft drone of fuzzy muskiness. While this scent has no listed woods note, I get a blond, very light, type of wood note in the dry down, which I love even more than the openers. "Quietly stunning" is a good general description for this scent. I generally prefer punchier, more complicated scents, and if it wasn't for the cognac element, and my need to form a "complete" version of the now gone Great Expectations collection, I would not have picked this up on my own, but I'm so glad I did. As an execution of a character concept, this is very well done. I don't even really like Estella the person, in GE, but she left this impression on many folks in and out of the novel, and this perfume does the same. It's a little like a classic white summer cocktail dress - something that should be a staple I own, but I have to group through my layers and layers of goth club clothes, ballgowns, corsets, business shark office clothes, and so on. But it's never not made me smile on application. I have an ongoing love affair with Arcana's vanillas, and this is is a unique addition to that collection for me. This will never be in my Arcana Top 10, but that's because I contain multitudes, and rarely feel like that sophisticated and quiet glowing elegance you get from the curve of a violin body, or the glow of a well polished, high quality bannister. But when I do, I always reach for this."
Reddit: "A beautiful, sexy scent that is mysterious but not too dark. I get a lot of cognac, but it’s sweeter and a little deeper with the amber and vanilla. It has some power behind it, but it’s not an intimidating scent to wear. Love this one!"
Reddit: "It reads as wood dominant vanilla on me. There’s a little white musk at the back. I utterly love this. It is haunting. Decent longevity but moderate projection on me. Really nice and very wearable."
Reddit: "Stunning is right! This is heavy on cognac and works well with the amber and vanilla."
