Atl. OBLIQUE is a Berlin based luxury perfume house founded by Mario Lombardo in 2016. April Skies brings to mind cold wind blowing around tender leaves. Rain surprisingly falling from a cloudless sky and nature playing around like a high-spirited child – wild, unruly and full of life. Winter and Spring wrestle with each other, being unpredictable and magical at the same time. In the sky, a fascinating pastel painting is drawn on soaked paper. It is April and just as this moody month is full of surprises, this fragrance holds an eclectic spectrum of freshly tart notes. Like the spring awakening itself, this scent begins with delicately fresh notes of lemon, fruit seeds and a green accord. In the heart, a floral woody composition of cedarwood and iris smells like a hesitant awakening – as if nature hasn’t quite made up its mind yet. The base with sandalwood and leather-amber notes wrap us in a surprisingly wintery coat again. Change, hope and impermanence go hand in hand in this fragrance and manage to appear quite confidently as a whole. April Skies features top notes of lemon, green leaves, carrot seed and pear; middle notes of cedarwood, iris and frankincense; and base notes of sandalwood, woods, ambergris and leather. It is an eau de parfum, edp.
ALT OBLIQUE APRIL SKIES REVIEWS
Fragrantica: I had the pleasure to get into the brand in their own shop and tried all of the perfumes with a personal and insightful guidance through the collection. April Skies is the most recent release and just amazed me with its accurate Interpretation of spring weather. Fresh and tart at the same time. It starts with a freshness of green leaves, which reminds me of freshly cut grass. The carrot seeds with the pear is very surprising and something I never smelled before. It has lots of different woods and spices too which gives the scent a depth and warmth. Overall a scent that is very surprising even though not my first choice of the whole collection as i like darker scents.
Atelier Oblique: April Skies represents to me a cold spring morning with dewy fields full of flowers that transitions into warm deep forests where the damp soil with its green overtones and earthy undertones grows through the tree trunks to reach the sun in a dreamy floral and woodey accord that resembles the awakening of the spring in all of its glory. A green throughout all of its range, delicdately floral and woody perfume with a soul and a character that perfectly represents the complexity of a reason characterized for its changes and transitions.
