Description

This sampler will take you on an armchair visit through Scotland. Scotland is part of the United Kingdom and covers the northern third of the island of Great Britain. Mainland Scotland has a 96-mile border with England to the southeast and is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean to the north and west, the North Sea to the northeast and the Irish Sea to the south. Scotland also contains more than 790 islands divided into four main groups: Shetland, Orkney, and the Inner Hebrides and Outer Hebrides. From the Highlands to the islands, there are distilleries across Scotland that produce the world's finest whisky which is featured in this sampler. Other featured notes are heather, peat, Scots pine, petrichor, bog myrtle, gorse, tweed and salty sea air.

You will receive a 1/2ml sample (1ml sample vial filled half full) of each of the fragrances in this sampler:
  1. Beaufort London The Grudge EDP - Inspired by the ‘white gold’ that appears occasionally on Scottish beaches and the alchemy of time and tide. It finds beauty in the unexpected: the journey of ambergris from the craw of the sperm whale, rolled on the tide, retrieved from a beach and tinctured into a bottle. A metaphor for the alchemy of presence. It features top notes of wormwood, frankincense and copal resin; middle notes of tea, seaweed and calamus; and base notes of ambergris, tobacco, oud, musk, oakmoss and labdanum absolute.
  2. Beaufort London Sirenide EDP - Based on a reimagined version of the Scottish myth of the Selkies. It opens with a sting of poison rendered in bitter almond and aniseed, which anoints a second skin of iris, aquatic florals and a plastic-pinseal accord. The irresistible pull of briny-sweet ambergris drags the florals and almond with it into the depths, creating an indelible drydown. Orkney, an archipelago located to the north of Scotland, plays host to the inspiration of this fragrance. According to ancient Orkney myth, shapeshifting creatures – Selkies – inhabit the bodies of seals and, coming out of the water, shed their skin to walk among the human population. Often in these stories the selkie’s skin is found and hidden by local men, and they are forced to marry their human captor. In Beaufort's rendering of this tale, however, the selkie takes the upper hand… horrified that he has tanned her precious skin, the selkie poisons her captor, reclaiming the leather and returning finally to the tumbling sea. A suitably formidable fragrance: powerful and haunting, with triplicate aspects of ‘skins’ developing on your own. PVC melds with pinseal and an unnerving bitter almond note… water flowers blossom and die, returning to the water. Created by Euan McCall, it features top notes of blue flag iris, water hawthorn, bitter almond and aniseed; middle notes of water lily and pink lotus; and base notes of ambergris, Atlas cedar, woodruff and pinseal.
  3. Deep Midnight Perfumes Highland Mists Perfume Oil - Inspired by Scotland and the Outlander Series. Scotland is one of my favorite places to travel to, and I would actually love to move and live there one day. My first 21 day trip there was inspired after reading the first five books in the Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon (who is one of the nicest authors I have ever met, and has answered many of my fan mail emails so kindly!) There is nothing quite like the feel of the air and atmosphere in Scotland when you are outside the cities. The misty fog, the islands, the shores, the glens, and even the rain hold a mystery that can blanket the body and make you feel like you are between the worlds. All the castles, moors, standing stones, and battlefields I visited there held a solemnity that I will never forget. It is one of the places of my deepest longings. This perfume, about one year in the making, is comprised of main notes of: Oakmoss, smoked peat, heather, woods, ozone, amber and background notes of musk and cedar. It is unisex tending slightly towards the feminine. Earthy, and slightly sharp, it warms down to the smoky peat finish with a hint of florals and woods.
  4. Deep Midnight Perfumes Nessie Perfume Oil - "’Tis a fine, cool, crisp day in the highlands as the mist settles over the Loch. One might sense the faintest ripple in the water, a change in the sound the insects make and the general hush that comes over the nearby forest. Slowly she rises, a great leviathan in her own right, her scales shining in the semi-clouded sun. You did see her, didn't you, the lovely water horse? Better look again!" Imagine the highlands of Scotland and the gorgeous, mysterious Loch Ness and all that may arise from her depths. Nessie is comprised of main notes of deep dark waters, highland heather, green aquatics, forest greens, wormwood, mist and the faint and clean scent of a mysterious animal from the depths.
  5. Freyja’s Daughters Cailleach Perfume Oil Cailleach (Call-ah), the Irish/Scottish word for Witch is also a figure in Irish/Scottish folklore. We tried to capture the essence of the coastal regions, the crisp winter and the deep tones of Cailleach herself. Our Cailleach fragrance has notes of Moss, Misty Coastal Woods, Vanilla, woodsmoke, Birch bark and Apple. It is a GREEN, marine, and woodsy scent with tiny hints of smoke.
  6. Freyja's Daughters The Stones of Stenness Perfume Oil - The Stones of Stenness are part of an ancient ceremonial site on the Orkney Islands in Northern Scotland. Originally 12 standing stones stood in this stone circle but only four remain today. The stones stand near other neolithic monuments, and items found here link them to the people of Skara Brae and Maeshowe. Within this stone circle originally was the Odin Stone. This stone had a hole carved through it and was thought to hold great magic. People would use it for Oath rituals, such as vows of commitments (engagement, marriage, etc.). Said to be the oldest site in the British Isles (carbon dated at 3100BC) it held its magic for the people of the Orkney Islands for thousands of years. In 1814 a recent landowner immigrant to the Island destroyed the Odin Stone first and then other stones because he was tired of the number of people showing up for rituals. The outrage of residents became too much and while some of the stones may be gone now, it still holds magic for many and is a World Heritage Site. The Stones of Stenness features notes of seaweed, salt air, clover, thistle and sage. This unique scent is a very seaweed/kelp forward fragrance.
  7. Parfums de Marly Galloway EDP - Bred to adapt to the harsh climate and rocky mountains of 18th century Scotland, the Galloway stallion was a particularly stalwart breed, versatile, rugged and determined. For the gentleman who wants to display his own versatility and determination, Galloway makes a powerful, yet easygoing, statement. It starts with a gorgeous spicy-fresh hesperide blend made from the peels of juicy citrus fruits, equal parts invigorating and fiercely masculine. A heart of earthy iris keeps us grounded in the crags and glens of Scotland, while a drydown of sexy musk and amber gives backbone and longevity. Like the horse that bears its name, Galloway will always get the job done, no matter the terrain.
  8. Red River Apothecary Petrichor Perfume Oil - Like a rainy day in the Highlands with notes of fragrant Scottish heather, fresh white musk and geosmin come together for this new take on a classic rain scent.
  9. Smells Like Books Sassenach Perfume - This scent brings to mind the Highlands of Scotlands and is based on the Highlander series. It features top notes of petitgrain and heather; middle notes of cypress, pine and juniper; and base notes of oakmoss and smoke.
