This sampler gives you fragrances that are reminiscent of the scent of soaked earth/dampened soil. Soil is a thin covering over the Earth's surface. It is a mix of eroded rock, mineral nutrients, rotting organic matter, water, air and lots and lots of small living organisms. The top layer of soil called the Surface Litter Layer and the next layer down, the Topsoil Layer or Humus, are full of that great earthy scent. This is a very popular note in fragrances today. When the note is "dampened", the scent of the soil is heightened. Christopher Brosius of CB I Hate Perfume says: “Dirt is still a note I use in a lot of my work. I've always thought dirt resonates so strongly with everyone because at some point in everyone’s childhood everyone has played in the dirt.” Of course, Brosius points out, the dirt you grew up in might be very different from the dirt that I played in, so olfactory recollection varies enormously, which is why CB I Hate Perfumes makes close to half a dozen fragrances with strong dirt notes. “The smell itself is so archetypal,” he says. “So it's always recognized and loved.”
You will receive a 1/2ml sample (1ml sample vial filled half full) of each of the fragrances in this sampler.
- Hexennacht Cloudbusting Perfume Oil - The scent of rain with notes of wet earth/soil, ozone, petrichor and light hints of grass.
- Solstice Scents During the Rain Perfume Oil - A fragrance that can be a singular atmospheric experience or a layering note. This is an isolated accord meant to capture an impending storm, followed by a thunderbolt signaling the imminent rain to come. This petrichor accord is comprised primarily of natural materials. It is meant to be an evocative experience, a bottled storm that focuses on providing one experience of petrichor and earth. It is a heart note that wears with moderate strength in the first half hour before receding to a more intimate throw for the next few hours. Just like a sudden summer storm, it comes on quick and heavy before tapering off to a gentle drizzle with the lingering scent of soft rain and earth over the next few hours. With notes of petrichor, soaked earth, limestone, loam, clay and wet concrete.
- Moonlight Cove Finery Rainy Forest Perfume Oil - A misty woodland, lush in shades of green with grand evergreens and noble boughs that briefly catch the cool rain drops, then release them gracefully from the tips of needles. The rain cascades down moss-painted trunks and drips upon the forest floor forming gentle ripples in the clear brooks and tranquil ponds. A beautiful, crisp rain drenches the woods and earth, throwing the perfume of the forest into the air with scents of fir needles, pines, cedars and spruce; damp bark and soft green mosses, moist earth and the rich forest floor.
