Gingerbread is a sweet treat, typically a cake or biscuit, flavored with ginger and molasses or honey, and often spiced with cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg. It is most commonly associated with the winter holidays and can be found in many forms, including decorated cookies, elaborate houses and spiced loaves. The name comes from Old French and has never referred to a type of bread, but rather to a "gingered food".
