Description

A desert is any large, extremely dry area of land with sparse vegetation. It is one of Earth's major types of ecosystems, supporting a community of distinctive plants and animals adapted to the harsh environment. One of the biggest variables in desert scents is the type of vegetation and, of course, the season. In the Spring, some deserts are alive with fragrance wildflowers. Even during very dry periods, the smell of creosote is strong in places where it grows. The daisy family is the most diverse plant family in deserts overall along with perennial grasses and trees and shrubs are found in some desert environments. A few large, common, conspicuous plants provide deserts with much of their regional character. In North America, the Sonoran Desert of northwestern Mexico and the adjacent areas of California and Arizona are dotted with large cacti, especially the tall saguaro, while to the north in the cooler Mojave Desert the characteristic Joshua Tree is found. The Creosote Bush is common in both areas. The spiny, spinifex grasses typify Australian deserts, while fleshy, cactus-like species of Euphorbia are located in parts of southern and eastern Africa.

Desert smells can range from dry and arid to moist and floral. In the Sonoran Desert when it rains, especially during the monsoons in the summer, there is the most gorgeous scent created by the Creosote Bush (Chaparral) that is absolutely intoxicating.

You will receive a 1/2ml sample (1ml sample vial filled half full) of each of the fragrances in this sampler.

  1. The Little Book Eater Roswell 1947 Perfume Oil - The truth is out there! Inspired by the infamous UFO crash near Roswell, New Mexico. Made with the scents of ghost flower, sand, cactus and sandalwood. Earthy and floral, reminiscent of the Southwestern desert. The perfect combination for cover-ups and conspiracies! It is a floral, earthy, deserty fragrance.
  2. COLORNOISE Desert Mood Perfume - The smell of heat. Dry air blowing around swirls of sand and dust. This fragrance was designed to transport you to the middle of a 100 degree desert with nothing but wilderness around you as you are climbing the dunes. With notes of sun-warmed cedarwood, desert spice and hot sand.
  3. Fyrinnae Southwest Monsoon Perfume Oil - Around mid-summer, the desert monsoon season begins in the southwestern United States, bringing sudden downpours onto parched land, often causing flash flooding. This fragrance is designed to have elements reminiscent of the four corners area and west New Mexico. With a breeze of white sage, this fragrance was designed to bring to mind the scents of dry, cracked desert soil suddenly turning to mud while the rain it can't absorb runs onto roadways.
  4. Death and Floral Two Cups of Tea, A Summer Monsoon, And Me And You Perfume Oil - Rain on cracked soil, wet creosote, a swelling monsoon, desert cedar and black tea.
  5. Poesie Faraway Nearby Perfume Oil - Wild-crafted pinyon pine oil, aromatic sagebrush, hot sand and desert winds and bone musk inspired by Georgia O'Keeffe Made with a wild-crafted artisanal pinyon pine essential oil complex enough to be a fragrance in and of itself. Earthy and coniferous with a hint of lactonic peach. This stunning pine note is accented with the clarifying scent of sagebrush and a warm, dry accord evocative of desert sand. Wear this if you fantasize about moving to a spare, remote adobe house, wearing only a minimalist uniform-like wardrobe, and doing away with the superfluous in life.
  6. Dawn Spencer Hurwitz (DSH) Redstone Mesa Voile de Parfum - A warm, iron-filled rock and earth scent mixed with dry desert air and resinous wood notes. Gorgeously unisex. It represents the vast red and brown space that is the backdrop to all of the richness of the deserts of the American southwest. It is the atmospheric scent of hot dry air, deep, resinous woods, creosote, dusty sand, iron rich rock and earth. With top notes of redstone accord and rose petals; middle notes of blood cedarwood, Bulgarian rose absolute, copal, frankincense CO2 absolute, labdanum, Mysore sandalwood and spice notes; and base notes of ambergris, birch tar, cade, East Indian patchouli, fossilized amber resin, myrrh gum, patchouli and Texas cedarwood.
  7. Of The Earth Perfumes Death Valley Perfume Oil - With notes of subtle smoke, palo santo, West Indian amyris, dried white sage, cypress and vanilla.
