Description

This sampler features aquatic/sea/ocean cryptid fragrances. Cryptids are mainly an animal whose existence or survival is disputed or unsubstantiated, such as Yeti and Bigfoot. It is a creature that is found in stories and that some people believe exists or say that have seen but has never been proven to exist. Some of these alleged creatures have origins spanning to that of antiquity, with their presence believed to have been recorded in myth and legend, while others are thought to have taken new evolutionary paths and evolved from previously existing creatures into new variations. Cryptozoology is the study of cryptids.

You will receive  a 1/2ml sample (1ml sample vial filled half full) of each of the fragrances in this sampler.

  1. Aether Arts Perfume Scylla Voile de Parfum - Scylla was once a beautiful nymph but was changed into a terrifying monster after arousing the jealously of Circe. Being jealous of her rival, Circe gave Glaucus a poison rather than a love philter. When Glaucus gave the philter to Scylla, she metamorphosed into a horrible monster with twelve feet and six heads on long snaky necks, each head having a triple row of shark-like teeth, while her loins were girdled by the heads of baying dogs. From her lair in a cave, she devoured whatever ventured within reach, including six of Odysseus’s companions. Scylla’s scent is a warmly animalic, salty oud, embraced by an ocean. Her animal nature is always apparent as is the briny depths that crash against her shoreline cave. A brief, whiff of umami speaks to meat of her diet—sea creatures and sailors (when she can snatch them up from passing vessels). Wood notes and musk reference the many ships that have sunk to a watery grave in an effort to avoid Scylla’s gnashing teeth. This is not a "pretty" perfume, it's a bold statement of strong marine notes, animalic notes, and oud. If you love salty, ocean smells and oud or want to smell something utterly unique and original, this scent is for you. With top notes of ocean accord (salt, seaweed, Choya Nahk and marine notes) middle notes of sea monster accord (animalic notes and oud notes); and base notes of splintered ships accord (wood notes and musk notes).
  2. Calyx Innsmouth Fragrance Mist - If you know your Mythos, you know Innsmouth - that decaying old fishing village deep in Essex County, Massachusetts, run by the Esoteric Order of Dagon. "...in spots I could see where a cobblestone pavement and stretches of brick sidewalk had formerly existed. All the houses were apparently deserted, and there were occasional gaps where tumbledown chimneys and cellar walls told of buildings that had collapsed. Pervading everything was the most nauseous fishy odour imaginable. Soon cross streets and junctions began to appear; those on the left leading to shoreward realms of unpaved squalor and decay, while those on the right shewed vistas of departed grandeur. So far I had seen no people in the town, but there now came signs of a sparse habitation—curtained windows here and there, and an occasional battered motor-car at the curb. Pavement and sidewalks were increasingly well defined, and though most of the houses were quite old—wood and brick structures of the early nineteenth century—they were obviously kept fit for habitation. As an amateur antiquarian I almost lost my olfactory disgust and my feeling of menace and repulsion amidst this rich, unaltered survival from the past..." [The Shadow over Innsmouth, 1936] Innsmouth is NOT a good smell. It is old decaying wood, slimy seaweed, fish oil, dust, a touch of botanical ambergris, and the knowledge that ancient and impossibly massive things are lurking just off of Devil Reef. There is nothing pleasing, sexy, or remotely reassuring here - the Deep Ones will rise, and we will suffer unspeakable horrors. A woody, animalic, aquatic, musty, oily, warm and ominous scent.
  3. Cherry Ka's Trunk Harpy Perfume Oil - The scent of a one-sided battle at sea, with blood splashing into the water, a ship up in smoke, abandoned swords and dashing feathers. With notes of sea salt, sea spray, smoke, oak and spruce.
  4. Cherry Ka's Trunk Selkie Perfume Oil - Hear your feet pounding across windswept dry grass through Scotch pine. Kick up dirt on your way to the sand and cypress trees at the dock, and finally, step into your power, wrap it around yourself like a second skin. Plunge into the waves of the ocean, the seaweed and the briny smell of freedom.
  5. Eliza Cosmetics Siren Perfume Oil – Siren is a sensual blend of benzoin, vanilla, animalic jasmine, myrrh, cocoa, civet, ambergris, salt, and more distant aquatic notes, with the idea being that the siren's song has caused one to forget about the ocean around.
  6. Haus of Gloi Selkie Perfume Oil - The break of waves, gurgling sea foam, kelp, rain tinged air, sand smoothed driftwood and wild sage.
  7. Little & Grim Nessie Perfume Oil - The Loch Ness Monster, affectionately referred to as Nessie, is a creature of myth and legend believed to inhabit Scotland's famous Loch Ness. The origins of the Loch Ness Monster date back to ancient times, with tales of water-dwelling creatures found in Celtic folklore. However, the modern legend of Nessie gained significant attention in 1933 when a photograph known as the "Surgeon's Photograph" surfaced, depicting what appeared to be a long-necked creature emerging from the water. This image sparked a global fascination and triggered numerous expeditions and investigations to uncover the truth behind the monster's existence. The Loch Ness Monster has become an enduring enigma, captivating the imaginations of people worldwide and remaining one of the most famous and elusive cryptids in history. With notes of loch water, black breakfast tea with bergamot, damp moss, vetiver, pine, spring ferns, wild roses, copal, myrrh, galbanum and cedar.
  8. Poesie Nessie Perfume Oil - With notes of black tea, buttery Scottish shortbread biscuits, lakewater, highland heather and peat smoke.
  9. Siren Songs Elixirs Siren Song Perfume - A best seller from the 2020 Halloween Collection. Sirens are dangerous creatures who lure nearby sailors, with their enchanting music and beautiful voices, to their deaths by drowning and shipwrecks on the rocky coasts. Salt water spray, sea grass, Icelandic kelp and sea salt surround you while the promise of warm sun, sand, and driftwood beckon you closer to shore. Sweet lychee fruit and the aroma of blooming dahlias perfume the air as her song grows sweeter to your ears. You'll never taste the fruit but how could its sweetness compare to the siren's kiss as she pulls you to the depths below. Alluring and deadly, the siren's song is hard to resist, and even harder to forget. With notes of salt water spray, sea salt, dahlia, lychee fruit, sand, driftwood, kelp, dark ocean water and regret.
  10. Venus Invictus Harpy Perfume Oil – From the limited edition Beasts of Myths Collection, Harpy is an ethereal concoction of clifftop flowers and thunderstorms. With top notes of pink grapefruit, lavender and salt; middle notes of linden flower, tuberose and ylang-ylang; and base notes of clean musk, double distilled patchouli and sandalwood.
