In 2017, synthetic biologists extracted samples of extinct flowers from the Harvard Herbarium. Through DNA sequencing, scientists identified genes that might encode fragrance-producing enzymes. They printed these codes and inserted them into yeast, which were cultured through a fermentation process to produce scent molecules. These molecules were given to world-renowned perfumers to formulate the fragrances found in Future Society's Scent Surrection Collection.
Through biotechnology, scent molecules inspired by Leucadendron grandiflorum were identified and reimagined into a vibrant blend of citrus, herbs, and warm spices. Perfumer Daniela Andrier crafted it from the earth’s perspective: expressing renewal through fire, and the beauty of beginnings born from endings. Reclaimed Flame is an aromatic citrus fragrance honoring South Africa's lost wildflower. Ignite your senses with Reclaimed Flame, a bold aromatic citrus perfume inspired by Leucadendron grandiflorum, a wildflower once native to South Africa's Western Cape, lost to wildfires after 1960. Dependent on fire to grow, its seeds were only released through heat, its source of renewal also became its end. This fragrance captures the essence of resilience and transformation, offering a scent that is both invigorating and comforting. It features top notes of bergamot and grapefruit; middle notes of geranium, turmeric and eucalyptus; and base notes of armoise and chamomile. Reclaimed Flame is an eau de parfum, edp.
Fragrantica: "A very nice hesperidic fragrance that is refreshing and lively. The eucalyptus, mugwort and geranium boosts the citrus (primarily grapefruit but lemon or bergamot is also here) and there's a detectable but not overwhelming tumeric. Chamomile can be hit or miss for me but it's fine here, and I think there's also a hidden note of vetiver in here."
Fragrantica: "This is a beautiful citrus/green fragrance! The grapefruit in the opening is mouthwatering, I don't have too many bitter citrus scents, so I fell in love right away. The eucalyptus is also present & its invigorating. I appreciate when a fragrance makes me feel energized. If you love nature walks and hiking especially in LA where there's lots of eucalyptus trees, you might just love this scent. For me this is a revitalizing aromatherapy fragrance."
Fragrantica: "Herbal, Camphoric, Dry Earth. Smells like a sticky baby pinecone bud. This was my first impression and it is still relevant to my perception of this fragrance. After it dries down a bit get more of an herbal chamomile scent with a hint of bitter green, and it surprisingly ends a little sweet and milky, but I am not sure from what. The eucalyptus is more camphoric in the opening but becomes more aromatic in the dry down. This scent gives me rustic boutique tea shop but inside a log cabin run by an unpretentious yet sophisticated, rugged, flannel-patchwork-shirt-wearing bohemian. I really like this one! This is at least travel-size worthy if not full bottle worthy for me. Sillage: 3/5 Projection: 3/5 Longevity: 4/5 Leans unisex"
