The term Grapefruit is believed to be indicative to the manner in which it grows in clusters on trees, which looks like the shape of large yellow grapes. It is believed the Grapefruit may be a natural hybrid between the pomelo and an orange, originating in Barbados. About a third of the world's harvested grapefruits originate in the United States grown in Florida. Grapefruit is also known as Shaddock and by two other scientific names, “Citrus Racemosa” and “Citrus Maxima”.
