shalimar
wore this so many years ago sampled again i love it .. soft and warm ... just what i love.
Guerlain Shalimar was launched in 1925 and created by Jacques Guerlain. Shalimar means Temple of Love in Sanskrit.
It is an Oriental fragrance with top notes of lemon and bergamot; middle notes of jasmine and May rose; and base notes of iris, incense, opoponax, tonka bean and vanilla. This is the eau de toilette, edt.

I've heard of Shalimar for years and finally decided I needed to give it a try. If you just pick it up and take a whiff, it smells like a generic fragrance from the '60s or '70s. However, once it's on my skin, it smells exactly like Johnson and Johnson baby powder. Perhaps I would like it if I weren't associating it with baby powder -- like if this were a brand new scent out in the world. I can detect rose, cinnamon, vetiver, and cedar maybe. But if I wanted to smell like that, I'd just dust myself with the powder I already have. However, I'm intrigued by future permutations of this scent because it would make a nice base to combine with other scents. I tried layering it with Angels' Share for a more boozy and caramel undertone, and I was suddenly in love.
