Description

Amanita is an amber woody fragrance that is the scent of a dark forest. Follow your nose into the dark forest where a cornucopia of flora and fauna will enchant you. It features top notes of treemoss, angelica, saffron and cruelty-free fur accord; middle notes of 100 year oakwood, larch, morel absolute and decarboxylated amanita; and base notes of Peru balsam, Ruh Khus, orris resinoid and Malaysian oud. Amanita is an extrait de parfum.

Created by founder and perfumer Christi Meshell, House of Matriarch's fragrances are made using the highest quality, certified kosher, natural ethanol distilled in Washington (from organic apples and grapes) so they will continue to smell better and better with time. Halal approved.

HOUSE OF MATRIARCH AMANITA REVIEWS

Fragrantica: This one is POWERFUL! I never thought I'd ever smell anything more earthy than Figment Man by Amouage. This is very strange but this is very wearable in a formal occasion, the woody/earthy/resin combination makes it a very DARK and BEAUTIFUL! The drydown even has a seductive vibe to it that I didn't think was possible with an earthy fragrance. Crazy, right? This scent throws me back to when I was doing contract work on a house in the hills of Cambria, California. The smell of wet dirt, trees, mossy greenery in the mornings and dry woods in the evening. Phenomenal fragrance. I still cant get over the fact that this turns into a seductive earthy scent. Well done Christi. Wow. 10/10

Fragrantica: Ha ha she did it again! mmmuch less poisonous than I expected but still dark, deep, tending towards the masculine. Opens the amanita loaded with earth, dirty, damp oak, a bit of leather with saffron, vetiver and that sweaty, warm animalic note that reminds me of spikenard. For a few minutes I think I'm in front of the male equivalent of Kiki. With evolution, the cloud I take reduces to a nice dirty earthy iris butter of green roots, tons of angelica, musk, mold and woods but from the wrist I can capture the depth and various facets including the broadening oud, intrigues and anchors to the end. The fragrant holy grail of mold and woodland hinterland. I feel like a caterpillar digging in the earth. Crazy.

Fragrantica: Wow, that mossy soil in the top is super photorealistic. You are in a damp forest surrounded by woodland creatures and mushrooms. There is a furry texture, and it's a bit prickly. Almost afraid to smell my wrists at time, its such an immersive experience. After all that I was surprised (in a good way) by how this mellows so much to an orris/balsam drydown. And it disappears quite quickly, maybe that’s fine? You want this just for a bit and then to move on. Not going to be an easy reach for anyone. Compared to other mushroom scents I've tried (Chypre Mousse and Soivohle Reader which is not in the database), I prefer this experience, as both of those start smelling musty on me. I also prefer this to JMP Mossy Soil which smells a touch too vintage, and to Iranzol which has a bit of pickle. So maybe this is my go-to weird mushroom scent.

Fragrantica: Cold-wet moss smell and mushrooms. This smells too much like field work for me, but it really is a quite realistic Wet Moss And Mushroom smell. Little bit of potting soil and warm humidity, but not overly or unpleasantly musky. The orris drydown is mild, and the scent doesn't last more than 3-4 hours. It's quiiite pricey so I would not purchase a full bottle, but honestly a novel mushroom scent if that's your thing.
