Amber is the most beloved accord in all of perfumery. As a core category of scent, amber perfumes can range from sweet and sheer to deep and musky. They can be as comforting and magnetically alluring as our collective memory of the ancient forests of long ago. Instead of the synthetic amber molecules found in modern amber perfumes, the perfumer composed her liquid thesis of amber over ten years, each aspect chosen to showcase the darker aspects of the amber spectrum. In all, more than 120 natural essences were included. Primitive woods, sappy balsams, rich resins, smoothing gourmand notes, several layered labdanum fractions including hydrocarboresin, a melange of exotic spices, and even a rare fossilized amber from millions of years ago, specially distilled for its high phenol content and resonant depth. House of Matriarch: "Blown away by this fragrance! It is so sensual and captivating yet simple and familiar, and it does indeed seem to present in different ways depending on when/where I’m wearing it. Truly outstanding and kudos to HoM on yet another masterpiece."
House of Matriarch: "I'm not big on sweet fragrances and this is definitely more on the resinous side. There is a little sweetness in the beginning but it is by no means the center stage. It's hard for me to pick out individual notes in this, as with most matriarch frags. It's a beautiful resinous, incense masterpiece. A must try for amber lovers."
House of Matriarch: "It has a really nice smell, with two issues. It's kind of a pure amber "soliflor". A very deep and rich amber, but would work best for layering with other HoM fragrances. You also need to spray a decent amount to get the most out of it, as is pretty common for natural fragrances."
