M. MICALLEF NOTE VANILLEE REVIEWS

Fragrantica: "Heavenly cloud. Double compliments immediately from two out of three teenage sons. Husband adored it. This smells expensive, elegant, old world European. Wear it dressed up to go to an art gallery opening, dinner, the theatre or even winter coffee with friends. Bit too special for work methinks. Gorgeous. It's not overly sweet and isn't obvious or easy to pin down, unlike many vanilla forward fragrances. Autumn and winter can't-stop-sniffing-your-wrists-gorgeousness."

Fragrantica: "Note Vanilee from M. Micallef is a lighter vanilla scent that is well suited for the spring and summer, but can also be worn year round, and potentially a signature scent. Even with rum as a note, the scent is still light and well balanced. The booze makes this unique and it reminds me of bread lol at some whifs (like hawaiian bread), but still good. It's woody, boozy, and sweet, but light. Moderate longevity and sillage. And I think you can find pretty good price points at discounters. Can layer well with floral/fruity scents. I'm looking for a spring/summer vanilla and this is a top contender. 8/10."

Fragrantica: "The opening is a very pretty, lightly floral vanilla, which becomes a warm, powdery and almost caramel-y vanilla in the dry down."

Fragrantica: "One of the biggest points I can make about Note Vanillée is that you mustn’t go into it expecting a sweet, juicy, dessert-like fragrance. No. To me, the vanilla note is like a double bourbon vanilla versus how vanilla smells once it has been sweetened to make desserts and pastries. And it’s boozy because of the liqueur notes, versus smelling like an alcoholic beverage. I suspect some people dub it “powdery” to describe that it is neither juicy nor sweet. Decanting fragrances can change notes, too. Indeed, my decant of this fragrance smelled like body odor on me. While it doesn't smell like Devil's Share or Baccarat Rouge 540, I'd put it in the same category for warm richness and complexity. Finally, Note Vanillée is magic when it has macerated and turned a nice dark color. It should then smell dramatically different from fresher/newer product. I love mine more than ever now at the two-year point. The folks at M. Micallef verified that this is the same formula as before, but that letting it evolve and mature results in ideal aromatic presentation. It will be worth it. It was for me."

Fragrantica: "This is amaze balls! Dam* beats Mica D'oro, Eau Duelle, Vanille 44, SDV & so many others. Let your bottle age in a dark & cold area. Dark rich vanilla, milky sandalwood!"

Fragrantica: "A beautiful, sophisticated vanilla that is warm, cozy, and slightly boozy. Note Vanillee becomes balmier and fluffier in the dry-down, so I suspect that the signature Micallef musk is somewhere in the composition. I ended up selling Babycat and purchasing this. Babycat is sexy but very loud. Note Vanillee is just perfectly balanced while still maintaining its allure. It's Parisian perfumery at its finest and one of the very best vanillas on the market."

Fragrantica: "If you are looking for a dupe for Guerlain SDV, this is not a dupe. I would say NV is a sister to SVD. Very similar in that they are boozy and dry vanillas.I find Note Vanille drier and more aromatic than SVD due to the amber and alcohol. SVD feels a bit richer and sweeter comparatively from the benzoin and rose. SVD is more complex to me but I still find Note Vanille beautiful. Both have a moderate to low projection and moderate longevity. Completely unisex. I would love a bottle of Note Vanille someday."
